...annoying clunk as the trigger resets? Granted, I am shooting mainly indoors so maybe I can hear it better but it seems like my trigger reset is REALLY loud and clunky?

Other than that, my DTX5XXX is an absolute hoot! Only about 600 rounds so far but nary a hiccup.

The "clunk" is the positive reset of the trigger as it drops off the disconnector and is caught by the trigger. It's just like it should be.

I hear new guys say the spring sound in the M16 stock is annoying too.

If proper operation annoys you, you need to shoot a different rifle. :)

Thanks. I'm a long gun guy, but this little M&P is my first black rifle so I'm out of my element a bit. Good to know it is normal. ;)

youll get used to it its like buying a new car you hear every little sound they make for the first few months:D

They also do tend to settle in.. Out of the box the 15-22 trigger is a bit gritty so much that some have gone as far as sanding and polishing surfaces. I on the other hand just choose to shoot it and let it wear in and there is also a good video on you tube covering how to pull the hammer with your one hand (with the lower split from the upper) and pulling the trigger, this causes the faces of the hammer and trigger to wear in together and gently rounds off the surfaces for smoother resets. If you do that, do NOT let the hammer smack the lower receiver that can cause breakage of the lower receiver.

Off topic, but yes! I bought my car last May, and there was this noise driving me nuts...I took it to the dealer...and found out, when I have a water bottle in the center console cup holder...the plastic bottle rattles on the floor of the cup holder, and makes the noise...lol...needless to say, I felt dumb, but happy is was nothing.
