does anyone else wish for a 22 MAG version?

I love the .22M and have a Winchester 9422M, but it is more expensive to shoot. I really enjoy my M&P 22 MOE and while the mag version might sell, but not to me. I need more than a 22LR in that platform, I will go to my M&P 15 MOE in .556.

I'd love to have one in 22 mag. I have a highly customized Volquartsen 22mag (10-22) and it's wonderful in every respect. However, I would pay a lot for a 22 mag in the MP 15-22.

Turn this question around....would I have bought a 15-22 if it only handled 22WMR?

No.

But, if it could easily accept several different rimfire cartridges, then heck yes.

I'd buy different mags and uppers to handle the different ammo.

Funny you say that. Just yesterday I was shooting just such a gun... and all you need is a barrel change. And I might add, with the suppressor, my farts are louder than this gun. I have two 22lr barrels for this gun & wondering what to get next... the 17HMR or the 22 WMR? Probably go with the 22 MAG.

i picked up a wincherser 9422m made in 76 it had a broken stock but fixed it paid $128 for the gun and stock was 75 but is shots great. gun site here on facebook so grabbed it

I would love to see a 15-22 that shot WMG... then again, I would love to see one that shot any pistol caliber. The indoor ranges in my area are only rated for, and only allow pistol caliber ammo.

There's another opening up soon with two lanes that will be rifle rated, but I can already tell they will be booked through the next decade. All of the outdoor ranges are a couple of hours away and are usually picky when they're open... like they don't open for a few days following a rain storm because most of them flood.

It's just easier to travel 10 minutes to the indoor range and practice.

The reason I would like one in 22 mag is because 15 years ago I bought a lot of it when it was cheap. At the time I had a HK 300 semi auto clip fed that I considered a mini assault rifle. I don't think anyone on the receiving end of a barrage of 45 grain bullets headed their way would question whether the cost of the round was prudent! And they do not take up nearly as much room or weigh like a 223 would. Think along the lines on these merits, then tell me what you think.
22WMR is fairly useless as a battle rifle round. Not enough range, not enough power and it has trouble feeding from larger capacity mags unlike the rimless .223/5.56. Weak case that is easily dented and bent. Even military grade flack vest will keep 22WMR out. That is why the current 5.56 load is 62g steel penetrators. One of those can do more damage than 10 22 Mag. Save the 22 mag for your PMR-30 and the zombie apocalypse. Or better yet the 5.7x28mm which is a much more effective round than 22 Mag also. FN 57 pistol and the PS90 subgun are the ultimate anti-zombie weapon system.

With advances they have made with .22lr, certain ammo now nearly matches 22mag. If a .22lr can't handle it, you're better off going to a .223 than a 22mag. Using Russian steel cased, .223 is the same price as 22mag but with much better performance (and neither being reloadable).
The "umph" 22mag has over 22lr is marginal enough I can see 22WMR becoming irrelevant and phased out within my lifetime.
