Does anyone here have one of those American Aviator watches?

It's a forty-dollar watch made in China, which means it might have cost five bucks to manufacture. Then you get to pay another five bucks for shipping.

How much you think ol' Rick would give you for one if you wanted to hock it? Nuff said.

I won't be buying one.

I'm a cheapskate, not looking to spend more than $50. But thanks for the suggestion.

Better Watch

Dang, I was hopin' to up-grade from a Timex. Guess I'll save the money and get another pair of custom grips made.

IMHO, Your Timex (any Timex) will be a better watch. IMHO, save your money. While I was flying I wore a TAG Heuer Formula 1 that I won't tell you how much it cost me. And I didn't feel that it was too much watch. ............

When I quit flying and went to ground patrol work, I felt the TAG was too valuable to risk. So, I bought a Werner (of Swiss Army Knife fame) Military and that served me extremely well. I then started carrying a cell phone and lost the need for also wearing a wrist watch. ............

As with most anything, you get what you pay for. At $40, my guess is that watch will keep accurate time for about a week. If that.
If you want an honest opinion..? Buy once and cry once.
I have a Marathon TSAR which I bought years ago. It has served me through multiple deployments, backwoods camping and hiking trips, and other rather rough work. The tritium vials are still bright and it keeps time better than my two other atomic watches. It cost me about $350 (not including the stainless bracelet strap) at the time. But, I will not need another watch. Plus, if I ever want the tritium replaced it will cost me roughly $30 and then be good for another 15-20 years.

Aviators don't even need a watch any more. Plenty in the plane and everything is GPS these days anyways.
And that watch they're hawking has absolutely nothing to do with aviation or WWII.
Shame on Rick

Ringo check out Seiko Automatic dive watches on Amazon.........been using one since 1988/89....... Model SKX007K $425 watch for about $185.....a classic look.....

Here's a couple of Seikos that I wear a lot. The last one is a vintage Seiko 6309 diver I restored this summer, and the other pair are the Orange Monster and an SKX007 modded to remind one of a 60s military diver watch.

I love orange faced dive watches. This one has been on my wrist, daily, for a lot of years.

I remember when you could buy a Seiko watch on Okinawa in 1968 for ten bucks. Back then, they were sorta like the Japanese Timex.
