Does anyone know what these are?

I remember long pointy collars........

Are they different thickness? Like feeler gauges?

"By George, I think he got it!" I did an image search for "BDS collar stiffeners" and got a lot of hits, although not BDS brand. (BDS might have been the owner's initials, as many of the online images were of personalized stiffeners.)

...were considered to be 'cool' in the late 60s, early 70s. along with 'French' cuffs and Joe Namath 'Dingo' boots. :D
:D:D

I remember "back in the day" shirts sometimes
came with thin plastic collar stiffeners which
were removed during washings. They were
inserted into "sleeves" beneath the front
bottom edge of a collar.

Amazon features hundreds of them, usually
referred to as "collar stays."

I found some of these made out of metal.

“Back in the day “ ???? Am I wearing antique shirts ? I’ve got a closet full of shirts with collar stays.

Regards,

You guys are making me feel really old: some of my shirts have collar stays and few have French cuffs.

Are you suggesting I’m out of style ?

Once upon a time I also had some shirts with French cuffs and several pair of cuff links. Also had some shirts that had cuffs which could be either buttoned conventionally or used with cuff links. Then dress shirts with button down collars. I quit wearing dress shirts many years ago, except on very special occasions. Same is true of suits. I doubt that my dress shirts and suits fit me now.

My button downs also had "fruit loops".

When I was a high school kid there was a shirt company named GANT, they were a high end shirt and had one of those tags. We did not have the money for a shirt like that but my mother was a seamstress and had been making my shirts my entire life. She said "I can make that shirt, you can pick out the material." She got a pattern and the material and whipped up the shirt, it was great looking and built twelve year old proof.
Well sir...it seems the upper classmen thought it was great sport to "collect" those tags, I was walking down the hall and felt a heavy tug from behind followed by the ripping sound of the entire pleat of my shirt. Instantly I thought "My mom is going to kill me." lost control and turned on the grinning jerk in his letter jacket and promptly jacked him in the jaw, sending him sprawling on the floor. We get sent to the Principal's office and I'm the one in trouble. I get kicked out of school and my mom has to come in the next day with me to get me back in the program. She was furious and frankly she was quite the sight, demanding to know who was going to pay for the shirt she had made and why wasn't he suspended, go mom. Anyway I got reinstated and never hassled again, guy had to have some emergency dental procedure.
