Does ANYONE Know ......

Hello All!

I have a Model 22A-1 and five mags, and four of them all misfire at the second round when loaded to ten rounds. With nine rounds, all great!

Does ANYONE know how to resolve this? I read on a thread here that you go in with a small file and file down the mag release. That involves filing in an area where you can't see or feel. It is inside the magwell and unless you disassemble it, you have NO chance!

S&W tells me that the mags have to wear in. I don't believe that.

I'm getting VERY fustrated with this, and I DESPERATELY need to resolve this!!!

Is there ANYONE out there that has ANY idea as to how to resolve this?

I have never heard of this before, but I would recommend you strip down the mags (if possible) and clean them thoroughly. Inspect the followers for burrs or other issue and make sure the springs are good.

I had a similar problem. Make sure the magazine springs are installed properly. See the diagram at this link:

Also, I used a small wire brush on a dremel and removed most of the paint on the slide and frame where they contact each other. Don't forget the lubrication.

Are you firing cheap bulk ammo? If so, try something like CCI mini-mags.
