Does anyone not own a 9mm?

I have...11 handguns? Only two semi autos the rest revolvers. The two semi autos are my G27 (.40 S&W despite a Canadian border butthead telling me it was 9mm) and an AMP 44 Automag. I also have an AK pistol in 7.62x39 but I don't consider it a handgun. While waiting on Great Plains Guns to make an SBR for me (7.62x51 AR10) I found I could get the AK pistol for $600 while I waited for the SBR

I didn't own a 9mm until about 6 or 7 years ago. Now I own 2. I've owned guns for 58 years.

I am very positively impressed with the cartridge. I was always a 1911 fanboy.

I’m only 63, but have never owned a 9mm.
I have shot a few, a Browning High Power(great design but uncomfortable grip shape), qual’d regularly with the Beretta M9 (92, right? been a while, ok pistol, had its problems and I carried old 1911s more often while on roving onboard watches), and a Glock 19 (great design, I just don’t love the feel). I just… never needed one, that’s all. Modern ammo in 9mm is impressive. Current day ammo prices and the S&W CSX recent revisions are looking attractive to me.

The first gun I purchased after getting out of the military in 1972 was a S&W model 39-2 in 9mm and when I retired from law enforcement some years back, I bought a Glock 19, gen 4. I have many other guns, 38, 357, 44 mag, 45ACP, and long guns. Love em all!

The first semi-auto pistol I can remember buying was a 1918 DWM Luger; $70.00 at a big pawn shop in Phoenix. I started loading 9mm in '67, and have probably had more 9mm firearms than guns in all other calibers combined.

I guess some will not own 9mms because to them it's some sort of effete European creation that no right thinking manly man could associate himself with;-)

To each his own..

Funny, my dad and I just had this conversation the other day. He, at 78 yrs old, has none, out of MANY weapons. I have owned 4 over the years, currently only have 2 (Shield Plus PC and a Ruger LC9s). As what seems to be a "standard" caliber, it seems to be the least owned one by many who have multiple guns. Don't ask how many .40 and .45 I have :)

I've always liked 9mm handguns, I currently own 11 of them:

Arex Zero 1 S
Beretta 92FS
Browning Hi-Power
CZ P-09
Glock 26
2 - Glock 19's
H&K VP9
IMI Model A UZI
SIG P365
S&W M&P Pro
Taurus PT99AFS

I purchased a brand new model 59 S&W back in 1978. I carried that gun almost daily and spent many hours at the range target shooting. I had several holsters including a shoulder holster and an IWB leather holster. With an assortment of 15 and 18 round magazines both factory and after market. To say the least, I was very fond of that gun. Then along came the NYS "Safe Act." I found myself in a very compromised position. Do I dispose of all my stock, issue mags and then search for now "legal" ten round mags? Or do I part with an old friend that I legally purchased and held in my possession for 35 years? I called a friend of mine who is also an FFL dealer and asked him if he was interested in purchasing it? I sold it to him. Had it removed from my permit and now is just a memory. Please learn something from this comment, at any time, your right to "Keep and Bear Arms" are at the mercy of anti-gun politicians that may have good intentions, but have no clue how to curb "gun violence." Guns are not "violent." People that vote for Democrats tend to be violent. Get it? No, I do not own a 9mm.

I have three.

No reason not to own a 9mm.

It's just a very well known cartridge, ammo and pistols are readily available and reasonably inexpensive.

In other words, it's what most people want.

Anyone not own a 9mm? And the big question is why?

The Illinois State Police issued the S&W Model 39 to their troopers in 1967, making the ISP the first American state police force to issue a semiautomatic pistol as a duty weapon to their officers.

The Beretta M9 was adopted by the United States military as their service pistol in 1985.

The Luger was produced in several models and by several nations from 1898 to 1949. They were brought to the US as War Trophies after WWI in 1918 and after WWII in 1945.

I cannot create a Poll but I assume that 100% of the Forum knows the 9×19mm Parabellum (also known as 9mm Luger, 9mm NATO or simply 9mm) is a rimless, centerfire, tapered firearms cartridge. That is extremely popular here and aboard.

I did want to hijack another popular thread Anything besides 9mm
My first 9mm was an HK P7 purchased in 1985. My latest was a S&W 5904 purchased a couple of weeks ago. I've been carrying a S&W 3914 for twenty years now. I've probably owned a dozen in total, and have five now. I've bought and sold several striker fired guns, but I always get rid of them because of the trigger. Now I only buy double action.

Bought a S&W 559 in the late 70’s in nine, sadly all my more smart friends were picking up model 19’s which were sub 200 bones at the time.

I could not hit the inside of a paper bag with that I believe was a generation 1 auto.

Finally got smart and got a sig 226 in nine followed by an Uzi pistol in that same caliber.

That was 30 years ago and haven’t been interested in 9 pistols since

My brother chastised me for buying “that tapered cased mofo”

He was right.

I do however appreciate a Beretta 9 and of course the Hi Power Browning. My late BIL was insanely accurate shootin 9mm handloads from his Beretta so that proved to me the cartridge can be accurate when approached seriously.

1911 in 45 takes the day here followed by 40 calibers (which was engineered from scratch - thoughtfully I might add) while the bottom line on the 9 is it’s a damn machine gun cartridge !

When I finally was going to get back into guns, I thought I was going to get a revolver (probably a four-inch 686+). Instead an older Browning High Power dropped into my lap for a very low price. A few years later, a very early Glock 17L followed it. I feel the 9mm Parabellum is the .38 Special of the world and is perfectly adequate for most people. While I also now have a 10mm Ronin and a .22 target auto (Ruger 75th Anniversary), the nines remain the center of my firearms hobby. I still like looking at pretty pictures of revolvers, though!
