Does S&W make a 1/2x28 threaded barrel for the 4.25" M&P 9mm

Just curious. Didn't know if the ones I see are all aftermarket.

Good question. Most that I see here are aftermarket. But there are many, many threads I haven't seen yet.

S&W does make a threaded barrel for suppressor use. One if my dealers stocks the M&P with both barrels. I don't however know the thread dimensions.

Yes, I have the factory threaded barrel in 1/2 x 28.
I have seen old listings for a metric thread version also.

Yes S&W makes both the 1/2 x 28 and the metric one. To make it confusing both barrels have the same P/N. The metric one sells for about $80.00 and the 1/2 x 28 for about $130.00. Both are on back order, with the 1/2 x 28 still coming in pretty regularly but the metric one seems to not have a good fill date. They also carry the thread protectors for about $18.00

Just make sure if you order one of the barrels and thread protectors you specify the thread pitch you want.

Dang, why the heck is the most common pitch of 1/2 x 28 sooo much higher cost? Seems weird.
