Does S & W read this forum?

Yes but some things aren't just a thirty subscription threads but universal comments across many gun platforms such as the internal locks, misaligned barrels or other common QC issues. I could see those issues being addressed as they are far and wide.

If you're not a tech worker, you've probably never heard of it.

If you are, it's mandatory viewing and at least four of us need to send you the memo.

What? He didn't get the memo? It's really important, it's about the TPS Reports. You know what, I'll just fax him another one.

Another forum I belong to that caters to the long and extra long range shooting crowd has frequent posts by industry guys and shooting professionals.
It can get awkward though. For example Vortex Optics is active in corresponding with members, but it gets weird when folks start complaining, expressing negative opinions and some troll for special treatment. The company rep. needs to walk a fine line, and that can be difficult, and likely why so few take an active role. Overall I think it benefits the company and shows respect for the shooting community and on occasion consider suggestions and opinions.

I don't doubt for a second that they have staff, singular or plural, that reads every post.
It is the least expensive data they can mine.

I've seen service complaints, quality control issues, and other problems and despite all this my S&Ws are all excellent.

I'm wondering if anyone at the company reads this and once in awhile reports back about problems specific to a given model.

Yes, l am watching now ;-/

I have no idea about this forum in particular, but companies have been getting into tracking social media in an attempt to gather sentiment data on their products. This has been going on for a number of years now.

Ford has at least one higher up on a popular F150 forum that regularly reaches out to members expressing their troubles with dealers and service departments and helps to make things right. So yeah, massive corporations do get involved with unaffiliated forums.

I have no doubt S&W has someone at least reading here from time to time. Same with Glock, Ruger, Chevy, Rolex, etc.

I doubt that dedicated staff is reviewing posts but the simple fact that one cannot search anything related to S&W without being directed to this website within the first handful of results is telling.
That said I'd be surprised if certain elements of discussion don't rattle their way around the cubicles before dying a slow death in a circular file.
Or maybe finding it's way upstairs.
All we can do is keep doing what we do.

I am certain many of their employees are affectionatos and read this forum. But much of what we discuss is not in their current commercial offferings. And much of our comments on their current guns is not complimentary. Plus gun manufacturers are all evil. 😜

I think the point of this thread should be , even if there was a member of S&W here , would he/she be able to have any influence in what model you would buy ? I have to say , in MY world of gun buying , they could possibly help with an answer to details on certain guns , I would still make the final choice...as I have done on my 5 S&W's so far .

There's really only one issue on this forum that regularly generates pages and pages of passionate discussion (well, besides the Postal Service, bear ammunition, and open carry). So significant that we have specific rules about discussing it. If a company were going to listen to customer feedback and enact change, that would be the first place they'd start . . .
Came right up to the edge there didn't you? :D

When ya get right down to it, what part do you think they would read?
The Lounge? Doubt it
the 2nd Amendment forum? Doubt it
Reloading or gunsmithing or concealed carry? Doubt it.
Other weapons?Doubt it.
Classifieds? Doubt it.
Probably look at the M&P sections , the current revolver sections and the I wish they would make....section but that's about it.
There are about 1500 of us hardcore posters and I would think that our whining just ain't enough to even tempt them to lurk. Not meaning to bad mouth S&W,but I suspect that the other big companies are also like that as well. Let's face it fellas we are a bunch of chrotchety old farts with STRONG opinions about how things need to be which ain't exactly a sought after demographic for just about anything they're out there selling. We have all the fun we can handle just stirring ourselves up into the occasional frenzy. :D
I think S&W would learn a LOT from this thread Measuring distances in the Ocean.
