Does your appreciation of classic revolvers...

....affect your taste in other guns? I bought a Kimber TLE 2 some years back and never warmed up to it....at first, I liked all the bells and whistles but the more I looked at traditional 1911s the more I wanted one. So I sold off the Kimber to finance my DS. Now I know my next 1911 will be a Colt...most likely a blue combat commander...and the only changes will be a shorter traditional trigger and maybe ivory stocks...if I can win them in a karma....:)

Im kinda the same way the only 1911s I will own are Colts.but nothing beats a old revolver.
 
Same here.Bought a Kimber about 10 yrs ago to replace a Colt I let go way back when.Got bored with the bells and whistles and have since bought several 70 s era Colts and one custom built gun done in the style of a prewar Colt.The last one is my favorite shooter.The Kimber just sits.
 
My first 1911 was a Kimber, also. It is accurate, shoots like a dream, no FTF's. Just a pleasure to have and shoot. However, I still yearned for a WWII 1911. Finally had to "settle" for a Springfield clone and I love it !!! Then a few months after that a Colt XSE showed up on a trader board (was probably here) and I scooped it up !! I love my revolvers BUT 1911's are great !!
 
A 6" S&W .357 and above Plus a GOOD 1911, and an Airweight BUG, it just doesn't get much better than that.:cool::cool::cool:

Those PLASTIC FANTASTICS are for another generation than mine.;););)
 
There sure seems to be a plethora of BBQ .45's out there these days. I used to shoot IPSC and have played with and built alotta race guns with all the bells and whistles. Any more it seems they just add weight and pointy things that can get hung up on yer clothes. The only single action semi I own now is a MkIII hipower in .40, stock with the exception of the grips.

I have a 6 inch 19 and a 442...but I also have an HK P2000 and I must say, it is a nice shooter with plenty of rounds in a fairly light, compact package...In a way, it's kind of nice to have at least one future gun even if all it does is help you appreciate your traditional ones...Besides, I can't carry a single action auto..if I could, it would be my Hi Power.

Sir, yes and no. I love the old fine guns, but I also like some of the features on newer guns. It really depends on what the particular gun is for. For just one example, on a "using" gun, I much prefer the big, easy-to-see sights on modern 1911s over the tiny old style 1911 sights.

I love revolvers very much especially s&w revolvers. But that love did not stop me from purchasing a Glock in February of 2011.
 
Smiths are my passion. My first handgun was a Model 66, bought new in 1982, the week I got back from Okinawa. Since I've got a little cash to play with now, I can spoil myself with S&W revolvers. I have a Glock 22 because if you have to go high capacity, Glock is my choice. I have an HK P7M13 because it's an incredibly accurate handgun, A Belgian Browning Hi Power because it's a classic and a couple of Colts, just because.
 
I love the classic looks of a Colt Commander, have a couple, and S&W revolvers, don't have enough. But on my night table sits a Glock 23 and its brother rides in my pick up. You have to respect the new plastic guns, but you don't have to love them.
 
My tastes run to the classics as well. I will never own some of the newly manufactured guns of the day, such as the Chiappa Rhino, the Ruger LCR's, the Judge or any of its derivatives made by whomever, or any S&W with mim parts and the lock. To me they are just plain ugly and definitely not worth the money. This of course is only my opinion, which doesn't mean a darn thing.:)

I don't really think so. You don't need to love revolvers to reallize that accessory rails & forward cocking serrations are abominations on a 1911, as are tacticool buzzwords emblazoned on the slide. Actually, I think FCS are bufugly on ANY pistol, but I'm not an ubertacticool Expert Champion Elite Tactical Operator... so I could be wrong. ;)

OTOH I've never really found G***** to be particularly unattractive. There is a certain elegance to their simplicity & effectiveness. Their fanboiz can be some annoying jackwagons tho...

EDIT: You also don't need to love revolvers to have your breath taken away by the finish on a 60's vintage Gold Cup National Match.

I am looking at 1911's now, and as always a K-Frame calls out my name I think it is a sickness. I called a buddy of mine who had two Model 19's at the last show and left him a message. he lives about 15 minutes rom where I work.

I have a nice Comabt Commander in .38 Super and a few other non colts that I love but I still like older wheel guns
 
No doubt about it my tastes run to the Classics far more than the plastic fantastics, But... I still enjoy my Wilson and Ed Brown 1911's, as well as a single BHP, a pair of SIG 229's ,an HK Tactical w/can and a pair of Freedom Arms big bores.

Yet have NEVER been able to warm up to Ruger, Kahr, Taurus and a few others.

My tastes in rifles run to traditional CRF M-70's , Rem 700's, Sakos, a Cooper varmint gun, and several Classic .22 rifles too. Throw in a few AK's and several AR's too.

To answer your question directly, of course!

Quality is evident when you know what to look for; in terms of fit, form and function.

Relative to 1911s, i'm of the "Colt only opinion".
