Some say dogs don't have feelings, or that they don't have a "sixth sense" when something is wrong. I'd have to differ on those opinions. About 4 1/2 years ago, our old dog Jessie was suffering from a stroke/extreme dementia, and we had scheduled her for a final visit to the vet the next day. She finally managed to get some sleep, and we wrapped her in a blanket to keep her comfortable. Joe, our pit bull mix, who then was then still just a puppy, came over to her and gently placed his head on her. He knew that something was wrong with his buddy, and he did all he could to comfort her. You can just barely see it in the folds of the blanket, but Joe had brought her his favorite chew toy. He stayed close to her all that night.
