Today @ 6:10 PM marked forty-nine years since I was in a gunfight w/three armed robbery suspects and came away unhurt. I’m reflecting on how lucky I am to have passed my 77th BDay, retire & enjoy our family. Sometimes luck is just enough . . .
Sometimes luck is just enough . . .
So glad you are here!!
Was never in a gun fight, but i had a recurring nightmare about being in one and slow motioned drawing my gun and firing, but the gun never went off. I usually woke up in a sweat.
After i retired, I still had the nightmare, but it eventually went away after a couple of years.
Old Cop, I am interested in your story, can you show a link?
Thanks for you service
Sadly a LEO I knew back home was killed in a gun fight with robbers. The dept did not issue shotguns then so several other LEOs I knew went looking for riot type shotguns to buy themselves. I went along as I usually hung out with several and picked up my first M-37, great gun. As An aside the perp. that shot our buddy tried to get out of his cell by lighting his mattress on fire. Needless to say it took “ some time” for the jailers to put out the fire so he was severely burned. When burned perp got to hospital he was sent to the burn center. They have a gurney that Slowly lowers burn patient into a solution that helps the patient but has a burning feeling. “ Somehow” the nurse let the perp free fall into the solution. I heard from another nurse his scream could be heard quite a ways off…..
