Dont Do This

Never put anything on top of the car

House keys come to mind. Been there, done that.

The only time I ever did that was with a thermos. An old glass one. I heard the crash and just kept driving. No need to go back.

THAT CRACKED ME UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean a real ROTFLMAO moment!

Drove 2 miles to the mall up and down hills. Got out of the Taurus and saw my cellphone is on the trunk nestled against the spoiler. No spoiler and it would be gone.
Left to watch a race and must have left my camera on the car. Never saw it again.
Driving GF's car from house. Has keyless entry. First stop sign the FOB slid off the roof and down the windshield.
Friend took new camera to Hawaii. Last day left camera on rental car. Lost all the pics. I told him to call credit card company he purchased camera with. They paid for camera.
I never put anything on the roof or trunk. I put it on the hood or on wiper area where I can see it.

The wife and I left Sturgis one time, and headed for Yellowstone.....somewhere east of Cody Wyoming the wind was blowing so hard out of the north we were leaning hard to the right. My sunglasses blew off my face, and we shut it down and went to look for them. Another couple on a Harley stopped and helped us look.........found them in the median about 3/4 mile behind us.

My buddy was tuning up his wife's car. He realized he didn't have the right fuel filter so he left the fuel line open and drove in his car only a block away to NAPA to buy one.

The wife knew all about it but the kid didn't. He decided to go over to his buddy's house to chill out.

Immediately upon starting, the fuel hit the manifold and started the car on fire. Since it was next to the house, the house went up next.

It was just a failure to communicate.

The side of the back bumper on my Wrangler is convenient to put stuff while loading my golf clubs into the back. So far the last three summers I'm down one cell phone and two thermos containers - each of those I heard clanking down the highway. Good news is I've gone from brown to black to now a nice green they came out with that matches the Jeep. It's just so handy, lol.

It's amazing how easy it can be to misplace or lose a gun -- which is a pretty sobering thought. I've misplaced guns in my own house, although never yet really lost one.

Many years ago a hunting buddy of mine went to the woods early one morning and found a place to sit down with his beautiful late-1930s Model 94. By and by, he felt an urgent need to answer nature's call, so he propped the rifle against the tree he was sitting under and went to a comfortable spot. You guessed it -- when he had transacted his business he couldn't find his rifle! He KNEW it was in the general area, but for the life of him could not find it.

He called me that night, quite upset, and I met him the next morning to help in the search. When we got to the area he had hunted, I stopped, looked around, and asked myself which tree I would sit under. At the second tree, I found it! Believe me, he was one happy guy.

Now, although I've never lost a gun I'd be happy to tell you how I have lost 4 pairs of bifocals...

I mentioned a coffee thermos, but I have lost one other thing, but it wasn't from the top of a car. It was the back deck of a bass boat.

I filled the boat with gas, and in the process of filling up, I moved the life jacket from under the console to the back deck. No idea why now, it was a long time ago.

When I got to the lake, no life jacket. No kill switch lanyard which was attached to the life jacket. And no prescription sunglasses, which were in the pocket of the life jacket.

I looked going up and down 95/85 for a long time hoping I'd see that lifejacket in the ditch somewhere. Never did.

Left a portable radio on the roof of my Cruiser, 2 times. First one City paid for it, 2nd one cost me $750.00:(

Another time, I left the tailgate open on my truck and on the way home, my Bushnell spotting scope, in the case, slid out onto the road. Went back, but never found it.

Turing on an entrance ramp to I-81 once saw a object on right
side of road. It was a bank deposit bag. A fat one. Stuffed full
of CASH. Also some papers. After finally finding a name tracked
down the owner of several local restaurants. Waited for 45 minutes for
her to appear. She immediately looked inside and pulled out a $100 bill.
I did not take the money. Must have been $4K to 5K.

I re-stocked a D grade Parker....

That the local undertaker back over in his driveway.

.

Dave—this one is as bad as my neighbor who sat the BABY in the carrier on the Subaru roof and started backing out! Another neighbor hollered and stoped him. The little boy was laughing and carrying on and saying in baby language, "DO IT AGAIN DAD!"

He tried to keep it from his wife, but the neighbors wife blabbed.

My brother was a city letter carrier for USPS. One day while out walking his route a member of the local PD drove up and asked him if by any chance he'd found a Glock pistol (in a plastic case) on the side of the street! Said he had accidentally left it on top of his car. Don't know if he ever got it back, but I'm sure he learned a valuable lesson that day!
