This weekend is the December edition of the commercial Dothan Gun Show. After doing the two club shows and checking out Melbourne, FL two weeks ago I can only hope that this one will be good too.
Saturday 9-5, Sunday 10-4. Admission = $10, free parking.
It will be in the EXPO building at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds on Highway 231 South. If you go too far south you will end up in Florida.
Set up is tomorrow for Me and Debbie, Wiregrass Guy will join us on Saturday and Sunday. Status reports posted all three days right here.
If you are in the area come on by and Say Hi.

Dothan on Friday

Debbie and I made the trek to the Peanut Festival today (Friday). We arrived shortly before 1PM, which is the normal set up time and discovered that Randy was already admitting vendors.
We got checked in and found our tables. While Debbie did the table covers I unloaded the totes from the car. After setting all of the display totes out and getting the signs attached I started working on the guns. I got 13 handguns propped up on pegs and price tags attached.
After two hours I put the guns all into zippered cases and loaded them back into the car for the night. Even after three years I am not comfortable with leaving the guns at the Dothan Show.
Lots of folks were setting up and there were many empty tables when we departed.
I didn't get to see anything interesting before I left, but plan to make a tour before the doors open in the AM.
I will post a status report tomorrow evening, and hopefully will have something positive to report.
Coming home I was able to find numerous gas stations selling regular at below $3.009 a gallon. I was able to get Shell regular for $2.989, as yet the lowest in Coffee County is $3.149, but Dothan (Houston County) and neighboring Geneva County are mostly below the three dollar mark.
After getting cheaper gas we stopped at Mom's Kitchen and ate supper.
Located in Hartford, AL they have great food at afforadable prices. While they have increased some prices they don't gouge you.
More Tomorrow.

Could not locate my cans in the backyard to fill the bag.
(but the wife has a fancy new purse, hmm).

Saturday in Dothan

Much to my surprise I actually flipped a piece of hardware. Sold a TISAS (TURKEY) for $2 more than I paid for it at the Andalusia, AL show in September.
We also managed to sell some grips, leather, Kydex, tactical gear, and an assortment of odds and ends.
If we can make a few more sales tomorrow we may even hit $900 or more.
Wiregrass Guy has only managed to flip a pair of Ivory K frame grips to one of our SWCA buddies who drove down for the show and Shrimp in Florida before returning home.
We had a very good crowd until abour 2PM.
Doors open at 10AM tomorrow to the public and 8:30 AM to the vendors.
There were several tables with numerous S&W wheelguns built before the Alpha-Numeric Serial Numbers and internal locks.
Numerous professional vendors complained about the lack of sales, but I didn't have any complaints.
I will post a wrap-up tomorrow after we get home.

Dothan Gun Show on Sunday (wrap-up)

Today was terribly slow.
Everything sold today belonged to #2 son David. Total sales for both days was a paltry $803. It turned out to be the best Doyhan Show we have had.
I managed ro make a score from one of Dothan's finest. He won a TARA 9MM in a Police Raffle last month. Today I got the entire package for $300 cash. Tara Zip carrying case, Docs, three mags and extra back straps. All NIB with a MSRP of $529. It was the only thing I bought at the show, and probably would not have done that had I not sold the TISAS yesterday.
The crowd was sparse today, but we did get a surge about noon that lasted a little over an hour.
At any rate: A Slow Day at the Gun Show is better than A Good Day at Home Watching the Grass Grow.
The next outing is slated for March in Hoover (Birmingham), AL. It is one of the three Alabama Collector Shows held every year.
If there is no conflict of dates we may do Dothan in March too.
Tomorrow will be a milestone for SASABERANGER...When I wake up I will no longer be 75...Tomorrow is number 76.
Also this week on Wednesday is Iggy's last Birthday in his 70s. In 12/2023 he will be 80.
I hope that everyone has a quiet December and Please have a Very Merry Christmas.
Please Stay Safe and Healthy.
