Some of you may know that I have wanted a 1965 Buick Riviera ever since I was a young child and saw pictures of the one my Dad had bought brand new. I rode home as a newborn in the back seat. I love the styling and performance these cars had, and I made up my mind at a VERY young age that I would own one. That day has come. Last week, I picked up in a partial trade for my 99 Corvette this sweet, virtually completely original 65 with only 60,000 original miles on the clock. Met the owner in Jonesboro, Arkansas after a four hour drive to do the deal, and drove her home. My Dad, who is 85 now, has always said that he wished he could have kept the 1951 Mercury he bought new, and his 1965 Riviera. The look on his face last Sunday afternoon when I showed up in his driveway in this car was absolutely priceless to me, and made all those years of wishing and hunting a suitable one well worth it. The odometer reading is accurate, and the only non original parts, other than battery and maintenance items and tires, is the headliner and Vintage Air heating and air system. I have all the original a/c parts and firewall parts in two big boxes that were in the trunk. It also has the original owner's manual. Only thing that doesn't work that I want to get fixed fairly quick is the inop gas gauge. The car belonged to country music performer Junior Brown for many years, starting back in the early Nineties, and I have a stack of old insurance cards and tag receipts in Mr. Brown and his wife's name to prove it. The current owner only owned it a short time; he told me he gets bored with stuff, and had no real attachment to the car. He DID include a receipt from late last year where he spent 2500 bucks on the car for a tune up, new water pump, rebuilt headlight motor, and a few other maintenance and small repair items after he bought the car from Junior Brown. I am absolutely in love with this car, and can't believe it's sitting in my carport right now after I have spent 40 of my 46 years lusting after one! Just wanted to show it off to you folks, as to me, the design and engineering is second to none, and the car is a work of art in my opinion.

I owned a light blue one, what a car.

Great styling, ride in total comfort and I always used that white dot in the speedometer.;)

Congratulations on finding yours, enjoy.

Your father and you have great taste. That Riv is my favorite car design of all time.

Back when that was a new car, my brother bought one, and was very excitedly insistent that I should drive it.
We took it out to Ocean Parkway, past Jones Beach, and I gave it some gas. Without any drama, we quietly floated past 100 MPH, on the most comfortable bucket seats ever, with plenty of pedal left. I thought to myself, THIS is how driving should be.

May you and dad have many happy hours in her. And be sure to give some youngsters a ride, and start them on a lifetime quest for one also. ;)

Congrats.. Thats a great story. Very happy for you!! I'm also a car guy. I have a 1967 chevelle with a 468 big block. That year is my favorite for the chevelle's. I just hope the gas prices stay down this summer so I can get some more crusing time in... 4-5 MPG kinda gets in your pocket and I need ammo too!! LOL

I'm kicking around getting the engine detailed, but it's kinda a tough decision. Only original once. Also forgot to mention the car is seen very briefly in Junior Brown's music video for his song "Suger Foot Rag".

Great car my Dad had one it was a GS with two four barrel carbs

Yours is a great looking car. They had an almost indestructible "Dynaflow" transmission, and some of the best styling features ever put on a luxury/sport car.

As to fixing your gas gauge; if it has the same motor my once owned 64' had, you don't really need it. Just stop at every gas station you come to and put some in !

That is a really cool car.
You just have to smack some 26" rims on it
