I notice more and more drivers that swing wide over into the other lane to make turns. I know this is necessary for tractor trailers, towing campers, boats, etc, so this ain't directed toward them.

This is for the idiots in 35MPH zones with normal width roads and rounded curbs that seldom use a blinker, driving their small car or short wheelbase suv/pickup that do it.

The one that swing so wide into the left lane that I think they're turning left and then suddenly turn a hard right placing themselves broadside directly in my path. If I have a heavy load on or behind my truck it ain't so easy to miss them.

I make these same turns in my full size crewcab p/u without any such maneuvering. I simply make the turn. I see school buses make these same turns without hitting the curb, I think Mom or Jr in there suv or Honda Civic should be able to just fine.

Who taught these people to drive?

Are there video games that show this as being normal?

Rant Over!

Thanks for listening.

In many occasions the smaller the car the worst the driver is.

Then there are the ones that turn right and run over the curb . After a while you end up with a mudhole/crater .

Those that signal a turn..AFTER they have slowed and are actually turning....I think the signal switch is attached to their steering box..

Or,the ones that decide to stop 1/2 way around.....!!! Really??
Zero consideration for anyone else on the road.

How about people who just plain ole STOP in the roadway..not signaling or pulling to the right....just... stop.

No wonder body shops are so busy...

The "wide turners" are just there to balance out the "corner cutters".
You know, the ones that don't seem to know how to make a square turn and end up cutting into your lane when making a left turn onto the road you are on. (Maybe they are trying to save wear and tear on their steering gear....)

You people that have never driven in Saratoga NY during the horse racing season have sure missed a lot of "interesting driving"

Thats basically the middle of July to Labor day, and of course all the summer camps on the lake are open. We get a huge influx of drivers that do not have a clue and way too cheap to buy one.

Saratoga is a old city with narrow streets and no turn lanes. That means you get a driver that does not know the streets and is just to dam chicken to make a left hand turn in traffic.. That can certainly tie up things first class.

After I retired from my construction union I got a job delivering building supplies and trying to do that in Saratoga can bring your B.P. up significantly. Driving a tractor pulling a pup trailer or driving a rather large CDL size straight delivery truck (28' box or so) and putting up with people in little grocery getters that do not have a clue can realy make your day!

OBTW middle of July is not far of!:(

A big part of the problem is traffic density is far higher now than even just a few years ago. Everyone is moving out of the small towns and rural areas to the cities/burbs. I'm hoping the increase in teleworking due to covid will reverse this trend.

Not where I live. The people are leaving the big cities and buying up anything that is available. Gently put, many are not small town people and bringing their baggage with them. I fear things will be changing here, for the worst.

I personally have had two calls by realtors asking if I was thinking of selling and one even came to the door. He gave me a estimate of what I could sell for and told me it would only be on the market for a few days. CRAZY!

Or the ones that just HAVE to pull out right in front of you because they couldn't wait 3 more seconds till you passed (no one behind you), then poke along at 1/2 the speed limit...

Or those that swing through a Give Way sign in front of you then pull right over to let you pass because they are still traveling so slow not realising they are blocking half your lane.
