Hello all, I'm contemplating getting a 50 rd drum and slidefire. That being said, someone has told me the " innards " of the 15/22 wont last long with the aforementioned desired set-up, due to the materials used are not strong enough for prolonged use. Anyone have experience with this ?..........Also, are we all sure this will be a legal set-up, a 15/22, with 50 rd drum and slidefire ?........

you will be fine if your state allows standard capacity mags.

as for the "innards" stop listening to that person for gun advise immediately.

i have both the slidefire and the black dog drum. both work fine. the slide fire i had to sorta shave off near the trigger guard, and the rifle i chose to install a timney trigger. be prepared to spend a lot of money for some ammo once you get it working right!!!!

I have heard that the stock tigger and slde fire stock sometimes don't work well together???

I wonder if the old side fire had problems that the new one hasn't???

I shot a stock 15-22 with the the new SSAR-15 ABS the other day. Saw no mods, ran good! It in fact was a lot of fun!

Thinking about buying a SSAR-15 SBS, and a drum. If I do this it will be a first for me. Spending more on stuff than the rifle.

Around $459 for rifle, and if I buy the side fire and drum ~ $773 for add- ons.

Plus I just found a flash hider I like. ~ $70.00 more spent.

I have around $850 already in/on the rifle.

So do I spend another:
$350.00 for a slide fire.
$100.00 for a drum.
$70.00 for a flash hider.

I probaly will. I am having too much fun!!!
The S&W M&P 15-522 is a money pit. But everything besides the Mags and dust cover will transfer to it's big bothers.
The ammo savings pay for some of this.

2500 rounds of .22lr at ~ .06 cents a round = $150.00.
2500 rounds of 5.56 at ~ .25 cents a round = $625.00

Still have not decided about the Surefire and Drum.

What do you know, think, feel???
This trigger thing just adds to the decision.

You will have to modify the Slide stock to fit your trigger lower guard. The M&P lower trigger guard swing low and the stock plastic hits it. Most AR's have a flat aluminum lower guard plate. Got to see one on an AR15.. Now just my opinion, I don't like them for the fact the control-a-bility is iffy due to the bump fire design, you can't use your optics or even your iron sights, just hold up pull in with your weak arm, and she rocks until empty... My question aside from the FUN FACTOR, why?.. Just my opinion so nobody get their undies in a knot.. I give the guys an A for creativity for sure..

As far as the M&P able to handle the full automatic fire, well you can update us on that part. I don't know if S&W designed the M&P 15/22 to be fired full auto, but with that said, the design is solid and strong enough to be able to maybe handle the volume. Drop a line to S&W at their web site "Contact Us", ask them and see what they say.. Update us with the results. I'm sure others (in states where you can have full auto) would love to hear the results. Here in Commifornia, we just dream about that function...

Actually, it's 100% controllable, you have the ability to do controlled burst fire, 2 rounds, 3 rounds, 4 rounds etc. And from what I saw, on short burst the groupings were NOT bad!

You do not pull back with your weak hand, you push forward.

What?????

The Slidefire works with .22LR recoil??!! I didn't think there was enough ooomh to make it cycle in bubmfire?

There are numerous videos up on Youtube of the SlideFire on 15-22's and they don't mention anything about needing a 3lb trigger, though I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

Every single video and review that I have seen does mention that they had to do some trigger work.

the standard trigger pull is to heavy to be used with the .22 in combination with the slide fire. a lighter trigger is the best way to get it to work.

Great!!! I really want to know if you have to do any mods???. I have fired one on the 15-22, seemed to work great. But I didn't ask about mods.

This seems to be one of those times where everybody has a opinion, but nobody has one.

Glad to see you scout a slide fire out for us!!!

You can swap out the trigger and hammer springs. One guy on youtube is shooting his and then goes back to show he swapped out the trigger spring for a JP Enterprise red spring and a JP Enterprise yellow spring on the hammer, trigger and hammer are stock parts.

Even if the stock trigger pull is too hard. I wana find out through experience not speculation...
I will make a vid of a slide fire with a completely unmodified fcg
