Duck Dynasty not such a hit in NYC.

Slogans and talking points are nice, but yes, if I did have to live in a crime ridden hell hole, and I was simply a poor citizen trying to get by legally, then yes, I'm OK with this kind of community policing. Even the Chicago parents of Hadiya Pendleton, who was murdered, endorse NY's stop and frisk as one of several tactics that works to reduce violent crime.

But let's stay on topic, after all, this is a thread about hairy hicks, the Plenty family I think, and their toothless wives who were denied entry into the Ritz Carlton or the Waldorf Astoria, or where ever.

Do they have an "Ignore" button here? I could sure do without this fellow's input.

You guys are kidding about the hot women and NYC...right? Get ready for profiling. ..The way I see southern women is like this about 75 percent Honey BooBoo mom looking, 10% skinny inbred looking and the rest hot. Meanwhile in NYC we have Brazilians, Russians, Ukrainian, Portuguese ...etc..etc.. Of course there are some uglies. Most home grown Puerto Rican women look more like teletubies then hot chicks and black chicks have way too much trunck space but with 8 million people there are far more hotties out here then in the south, Midwest or anywhere else. Exception being Fla and Cali

When I worked in Midtown I would have lunch on the Public Liberty steps and watch the most beautiful women in the world walk by.
NYC is still #1.. second would be Rio and then Singapore.

So that's what you call it? :(

Back when I was younger and even more stupid, I had a job that kind of required someone to go to New York every month. I worked for Schenley Distillers in the Cincinnati office. It was a good job, paid fairly well, and we even got a bottle a month (sometimes more). The ugly side was once a month, the first working day, someone had to make a courier run to NYC. Then they had to stay overnight and fly back the following morning with another tape coming back. Basically in the 1970 time frame, it was the only secure way to deliver a massive amount of data, fast.

So for any number of reasons, none of them my doing, I'd done way more than my fair share. Yes, I hated NYC. It was nasty, and it stunk, was full of downtrodden scum. So along came a month end, and nobody in our department was complaining about being the dog that got kicked. I'd done 3 or so in a row, so I was clearly off the hook. Then the worst nightmare came along. I was called into the VPs office. Could mean I was getting fired. The only thing worse was being sent off to gulag called NYC. Yeah, it was a relief to everyone else, especially the dozen or so who hadn't been banished in a year or more.

But I got sent again. I guess because I only complained privately. But this time he had a sweetener. I could take my wife if she could get out of work, and I had no limit on spending. I was even ordered to take her to supper at I think Del Monicos. its been 40+ years. The other sweetener was I was told I didn't have to do it again until everyone else in the department had taken their turn. So we were young marrieds. It wasn't too awful. And we had better sense than to wander around the city.

I hated the place, and can't for the life of me understand why anyone would voluntarily live there. Or why they'd even visit. On the other hand, I've been to leezy-anna and its not a bad place to visit at all. Well, except for hurricane season or maybe duck season.

I hear tell Cajun Lawyer prefers duck hunting to even fishing or hanging out in a court room. Charlie's brother Joe lives there, too. Must not be too bad a place.

And I've had a beard since 1980. They're cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. If you don't know that, its not my fault. I have no preconceived impression of folks by what they wear or if they've got a beard or not.

I've participated in many a thread about NYC on this forum and find that the members who dislike it because of everything from the crowds, filth, panhandlers, hookers, drugs, unfriendly nature and so on and so on inevitably hasn't visited since the 70's or 80's yet are adamant in the fact the NYC is still the "PIT"they remember and I'm sure revel in telling the same tragic stories of the odious huddled masses to everyone who will listen...including us.
I'll say again....NYC was reborn after 9/11 and even before, considered to be the international center of art, culture, finance, fashion, food, drink, education and the melting pot of innovation and ideas.....Now some of you fine folks are uncomfortable with those facts and while completely understandable to us city folk, I implore you to revisit us and you'll find a rushed, brash and at times short populace. We've all been there as mostly transplants, persevered, went to school, college, lived, worked and raised families in the greatest city in the world and can't wait to show you around, take you to the best dives, the sights,shopping,museums....and our Women!!!! Lord our women are the best.
Just go with the flow of traffic.....time is money Gents.

Like Phil says we don't call 911 were we live I am 911. Phil's moto is happy, happy I wouldn't want to see this calm laid back guy mad. I believe this country boy would rip your heart out and show it to you while it's still beating. Theses people are the ones you don't want to see mad.

I was from northern New Jersey twenty minutes from the city. New Jersey rocks while NYC xxxxx.

As for the Southern women all I can say is I grew up in the South and have been in a lot of foreign countries and most of the states but there are no better women than a real Southern girl. But being from the South I am a little prejudiced toward the Southern girls.

Well heck, I'm from the north and I agree with you!! Southern gals are just the sweetest things... :D

I heard Phil Robertson gave up a football career... Professional and all, because it interfered with duck season.

He may not be smart, but he does what he wants, and I guess since Willie got his marketing degree things have really come around!

.

Would you like to know what the net worth of each family member is in this guys "He may not be smart" family!?

We are certainly opposed in our opinions of the city of New York.
I will get by just fine if I never touch foot in NYC again.

I guess Duck Dynasty is about the most popular TV show in America. Everybody is talking about it and I have tried to watch it a couple of times, but it was not very funny or entertaining to me. The last time I tried to watch it the gentlemen were together chatting and one of them was contemplating buying a hot tub. Well, he buys the hot tub and is sitting in it while talking to the other guys and, you know what is coming, that's right.. he passes gas. That was pretty much the highlight of the show. Now I like a good fart as much as anybody but I'm a little shocked that the multi billion dollar TV networks can't come up with something more original than that. Heck, the I Love Lucy show 60 years ago had funnier writers and their budget was probably pennies compared to Duck Dynasty.

Well, I never been to Loozyan but the wife's from Beaumont & we got married in suhthun Jawjuh AKA Mayport, Fla.

Spent our honeymoon in a bar in Jax Beach called The Family Tradition. The folks there coulda been extras on Duck Dynasty. Some of the greatest folks I've ever met in the colonies. I liked them a whole lot better than the yuppies I had to deal with as a Harley mechanic.

Most of the people passing by Trump Tower, and walking around most of Manhattan for that matter, are from either out of state or out of the country. You can tell, they're either looking up or have a camera in their hands.
People sure do make a lot of assumptions around here.

You are so right, my friend! Thank you.

Wait one minute if Phil was an NFL prospect he must have played college ball? They didn't look at high school players back then. So otherwise how did they know he was good? Phil isn't dumb nor stupid it's how the show portrays them in a way. There pretty smart after all there millionaires and get to hunt fish and still live off the land. There simple people living a simple country life.
I wish I had a family like that there awesome.

i do alot of hunting and outdoors stuff. i wear camo. i have a full beard. grated my hair is not nearly as long as theirs. but i do just fine money wise. looks shouldnt dictate how a person is. i may appear a bit "rough" to the city folks, but then again i live outside the city in the country. where there are farms, livestock, deer, and GREAT fishing. im also just a 45 minute drive into detroit, where most of my work is done

"In the 1960s, Robertson, now 66, was the starting quarterback at Louisiana Tech for two seasons ahead of Terry Bradshaw. His teammates and a coach recall him as a talented, outdoors-obsessed character who walked away from his final year of eligibility to spend more time hunting and fishing, but had the talent to play in the NFL."

There's a big difference between people who like and understand DD and those who don't. People who are concerned with being "socially correct", to whom appearances are more important than character, don't take to this program. The rest of us understand where they are coming from and, while we probably aren't as laid back and "informal" as they are, deep down inside us we wish we could be more like them. They are comfortable with who they are and where they came from.

You got that right. I have one word PHONIES. It's about people trying to fit in. I wish I was one of DD just to hunt and fish.

It's funny I'm more welcome in vt. by the people up there than my neighbors at home.

I don't blame him I'd choose the outdoors and hunting over the NFL too. I'd rather live in the backwoods with the animals. If I had to do it all over again I'd be in Alaska.

Its actually kinda a shame, but most of these 'reality' shows are scripted pretty hard. One quote I read from some producer said that, hey, we have 80 hrs of tape for less than an hour show, we can make it as we want (paraphrased ;))
