Dumb model 10 question

I know this is a rather pointless question. But around what engineering change was the pinned barrel dropped from the model 10? I was looking at a 10-5 and noticed the pin and started wondering about it.

The pinned barrel was dropped on the later 10-8s around 1982. Some early 10-8s still had the pinned barrel though.

Both correct. The 10-7 and 10-8 were produced concurrently (tapered barrel, heavy barrel) and the elimination of the barrel pin didn't receive an engineering change.
