I recently got a early model 41 with the 7-3/8" barrel and muzzle compensator. This pistol isn't drilled and tapped for optics. (1958)
I would like to add a Burris Fastfire Red Dot. I was told that there is available a mount that replaces the rear sight making it possible to add a Red Dot. Anyone know if this is true? I would rather not drill and tap the barrel. I am older and the iron sights are hard for me to work with. Thanks for any and all help with this.

Fastfire sight

Not familiar with BME What is that and where can I find it?
Thanks,
Bill T.

Check BME's website. I believe they make one. I just got one for a model 52 and it has the same sights as the older 41's

Thanks again, I found them. Will contact them first of the week.

Bill T - STRONGLY suggest you DO NOT D&T an early 7 3/8" bbl due to affect on value.
Best option would be a later factory D&T bbl or a Clark or Bully bbl. Also suggest you remove the brake and replace with a false muzzle cap. E-mail me and I think I can put you on to a good option.

I don't believe the BME mount works with the rear sight on the 7 3/8" barrel as it is a different design than the one used on the 5.5" barrel. The rear sight on the 5.5" is in a dovetail and this is how the BME mount attaches....the rear sight on the 7 3/8" barrel is mounted on a hinge. You may be better off buying another newer barrel that is drilled and tapped. The Clark barrels are also very nice with red dots. Yes, this is a more expensive route but it would be a shame to ruin the original barrel on a gun of that vintage.

Edit: Tom beat me by 2 minutes....this time.
