I love group shots so will add some of mine. Here is what I used to have for tip-ups. Most are sold off by now, but I still keep a few representative samples. First is my tip-up collection, second is my 38 Safety barrel lengths, third is all my Safety revolvers.

Youngfd, I think your NM #3 might have shipped to Japan around 1898. Have you lettered it? If I had the serial number, I could look it up in an incomplete serial number reference to see if it is listed. I have four NM #3's and four Model 2, Old Army revolvers that went there. Some NM #3's are not marked with acceptance marks to indicate being shipped to Japan.

The NM 3 came with a SW letter. I will check it. thx J

Youngfd, I hope the letter shows that the revolver went to a distributor such as H. Ahern or Takata & Co. These folks received the revolvers from S&W in Japan.
