Hi, y'all, new guy here. Have carried S&W pistols and revolvers off and on throughout my adult life, but I have a specific question regarding the full-size M&P 2.0 9mm duty gun. My daughter is a corrections sergeant and carries a M&P 2.0 in 9mm while on duty, and I want to get her an EDC pistol that is concealable but shares as many features of the full-size 2.0 as possible so that she become as comfortable and familiar with her duty weapon while also having a quality EDC. Would the 4" 9c be the way to go? Is the 3.5" 9sc too dissimilar from the full-size version to offer the familiarity I'm hoping to achieve? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I carry an M&P 2.0 full size for work purposes, and also have a 2.0 Compact and a Shield Plus. The 2.0 Compact is easier to index and shoot.

I don't have a 1.0 Compact or 2.0 Subcompact, but I suspect that transferability of skills/muscle memory for the 2.0 SC will depend upon how broad her individual palm span is.

Have her check out the m&p 2.0 compact not the 9c as that goes back to the earlier generation of what a sub compact today . The current compact will match well to her duty carry with only the grip length being the biggest difference . 15 shot to 17 shot for a standard mag . I cc a full size 4.25 model in 40sw and also have a the 4" compact .

The real question is what can you daughter conceal well as a for a handgun ? Body shape well determine what she can conceal well . The only difference between the 4" and 3.6" compact is the barrel . Might be if she stays with the m&p line is to size up the 2.0 sub compact and current production is very limited to one model now . I have two daughters . But have m&p full size 4.25 40sw as house guns but nether can conceal it well enough ! One carry's an old cw9 kahr or an early m&p9c depending on cloths and the other p365 . My wife is 5-2 and carry's a p365xl

Thanks for your thoughts on this. My daughter is 5'8" so either the 3.6" or the 4" 2.0 should be okay. I'm not a fan of the manual safety on the 3.6" but if that's what her new duty gun will have I guess I can go with it…if I can find one locally for her to handle!
