Hi, I've looked at every parts company that I know of or could find in a google search for a 070050000 ejector rod for my 65-5 with no luck, for some reason everyone is sold out / out of stock.

Mine is still functional but has been buggered up by the p.o. so if anyone has one they would like to part with or know where there is stock on the shelves I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mark

This one is available at Midway. What length barrel do you have?

Smith & Wesson Extractor Rod S&W 65 617-2 LS Glass Bead

You could call Midway to confirm, but one of the reviews said it was used on a revolver with a 6" bbl, which would be same as 4". I would think this one would work, unless you need one for the shorter bbl. The parts book indicates this particular rod was used on the LS. (as always, this new extractor rod may require minor fitting)

Armorer 951, yes I believe your correct this should fit but its not the right finish, mine is fully functional its just ugly, looks like someone took a pair of pliers to the knurled portion so I guess I will keep looking...thanks for the reply.

If it is just the knurled part of the ER that is ugly, you can have it re-knurled at a local machine shop assuming there is one near you. Anyone with a Lathe should be able to do it in a few minutes. Yea - probably cheaper to replace it assuming you can find a replacement, but that might be a chore to find these days.

I'd suggest going to a local Gun Show - typically there are vendors selling S&W parts - you have a good shot there. If you haven't already done so, call Jack First in Rapid City SD and take a look on eBay - you can sometimes find good parts there.

NOTE:
Just so you know, a blued finish can easily be removed and the ER can be polished to replicate Stainless. Most blued ER's don't stay blue for very long anyway - through wearing of the bluing. So when searching - do not discard a blued rod.

I've had decent luck finding parts here;
Schluder Shots, Round Rock, Tx.
US Guns and Gear, Covington Ga.

Apparently, SOMEONE has been buying a lot of old S&W parts lately, I don't know, rebuilding old re-imported K frames or something??
