Guys I live in an apartment complex here in Lost Wages, and they strictly prohibit propane or gas grills or charcoal grills of all sorts for use on the balcony.

But, they allow what is know as an electric grill. I’m just looking for any experience and advice on such devices or if anybody knows about them here? Thanks!

Farberware makes one. Use inside or out. I would mot take $500 for mine if I could not get another one. I have had it since about 1970.
I spot them a couple of times a year at garage sales for five or ten dollars.
Should be easy to find on line.
The George Foreman grills get good reviews also.
Best,
Gary

I have used an older Charbroil Electric "Patio Caddie" Grill Successfully for 16 years
it takes some getting used to and changes in Technique
(You need to leave the lid closed to get decent heat)

But there isn't anything that hasn't come out Tasting good
as long as I didn't screw it up

it has a regular grill type surface that you cook food on
and electric coils underneath

I did have to put alarm aluminum baking pan underneath th catch the drippings
the tiny receptacle they provide doesn't work at all
and the newer replacement Electric elements work much better than the originals did

My electric grill has the heating element in the grilling surface. It puts the little burned "grill marks" on the meat, but the flavor is not there.

My daughter has one where the heating element is below the grilling surface. Melted fat and meat juices drip through the slots, fall onto the heating surface where they burn and the smoke rises up and flavors the meat.

That's where the flavor from a grill comes from. The meat juices falling onto the fire and the smoke rising up and flavoring the meat. The type jeffsmith shows would be a much more effective and flavorful method than the one I have, which is basically an electric griddle with slots cut in it.

And like Muley's, mine is time-consuming to clean. The slots are too close together. I have not yet found a brush that I can get in there and clean the fat off with. The only way to really clean this thing is to put it in the dishwasher, and I don't use the dishwasher.

They also had a gas grill that looked just like that but it was green.

I've been a fan of T-Fal Optigrill. Definitely not the same as cooking on a grill for flavor but with proper seasoning or marinade it does the job. Will handle frozen food as well as thawed.

You can cook steaks rare to well done.Your choice. Pork and chicken have their own button which will cook the item to the minimal safe temperature and automatically beep when done. Of course you can cook pretty much anything on the grill.

Here are some pics...Lots of video on YouTube.
