I wrote an email to Senators Specter and Casey expressing my concerns over Sotomayor and her stands on 2A and other issues. I finally got my "response" today from Specter (nothing from Casey).

Dear Mr. Willis:

Thank you for contacting my office regarding your concern.

I appreciate your taking the time to bring your views on this important matter to my attention. As a United States Senator, it is essential that I be kept fully informed on the issues of concern to my constituents. While the large volume of correspondence I receive precludes a more lengthy response, please rest assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind as the Senate considers this issue. If you have any further questions on this or any other issues, please visit my website, http://specter.senate.gov, and carefully fill out the contact form under contact info.

Again, thank you for writing.

Sincerely,

Arlen Specter

So.. pretty much that means.. someone in his office quickly skimmed my email and pasted this generic response. Gee thanks. Notice how there's no reference to what I actually wrote about, just referred "this issue".

I'm glad that my thoughts and opinions on something as important as a Supreme Court nominee were dismissed so quickly. I guess the Specter office already knows what his vote will be on "this issue".

Hell, they didn't "skim" it. I bet that it was never read at all, and all your email did was generate an automatic reply back to you. You could have said something bad about his mother and gotten EXACTLY the same response.

Well.. I DID send send the email.. soon after she was announced. I got the auto reply email that same day saying my email would be reviewed... I got this response today so I think I did at least have a human send it.

You must be from Pennsylvania because when I sent an email to Dianne Feinstein after her interview on 60 Minutes several weeks ago, the response I got was that her office would only respond to emails that came from someone who lived in California! Of course I should feel free to send a letter to her Washingoton, D.C. or Sacramento office and someone (probably not her of course!) would reply as time permits!

So in other words, if you are not a constituent of hers, your opinion is of very little value.

Not holding my breath!!

I sent a email to Sen. Mark Pryor about "freedom of choice, card check" this is the union thing and got a return email from "him" saying he was for a womans right to have an abortion. I think some twit intern answered it.

I'm from Pa and I have had occasion to sned emails to Senator Spector regarding various legislation being considered and I get the same canned email responce back as you did. They're in their own world down ther in DC. Will meet with him on Tues about Card Check and National Health Care or should I say National Night Mare.

Despite the above, I hope that Specter wins the Dem primary. I believe he is beatable, and he is still not the worst possible Senator.

These belly crawlers are as interested in getting ours views are they are in getting herpes.

Translation: "I've gotten an overwhelming majority of folks telling me to vote NO on her confirmation, but I could really care less what you little people think. I'm going to vote YES whether you like it or not. Besides, you people are so dumb, I can do anything I damn well please and still get re-elected, so go piss up a rope."

""I would pay good money to see someone put a red hot branding iron on her big fat ...butt.
you people are so dumb, I can do anything I damn well please and still get re-elected, so go piss up a rope.""

Isn't this what most of Congress is telling us, including PREZ?

These replies are all auto-generated, based on the pre-programmed subject lines on the senators' contact forms. Try a test one and see. Pick any subject title, write a nursery rhyme in the subject box, and see what comes back.

Barb,

I know you are right. We are just little ants to them as they sit in their ivory towers. That's why most people don't vote, or even register. They think it's a waste of time.

Chad, here is the actual response you should have received

Dear ChadW,

I have received your letter that probably complains about some damn thing or other, or else about wanting me to do something or give you something.

Upon screening your name and address against our master list of donors, it's apparant that you have never donated to my campaign and you do not represent a group that means anything to me.

Therefore, you do not count for squat and your letter or email has therefore joined all the others in the land of the lost.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Your Senator ... and don't you forget it,

Arlen A. Specter

Here's the response I got from one of my senators (Sherrod Brown, D-OH):

Dear (me):

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding President Obama's nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to serve as Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

Judge Sotomayor has more federal judicial experience than any other Supreme Court nominee in the last 100 years. She has served on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She was confirmed for both of these judgeships with strong bipartisan Senate support.

Raised in the public housing projects of New York City, and supported by a single mother, Judge Sotomayor worked hard to become one of our country's most respected judges.

I appreciate your sharing your thoughts, and I will certainly keep your views in mind as the Senate examines Judge Sotomayor's nomination.

Thank you again for being in touch with me.

Sincerely,

Sherrod Brown
United States Senator

I also sent letters about the cap & trade scam (he supports it), the proposed national vat/sales tax (got a canned response back supporting subsidised alternative/clean energy development), and the socialized health care scheme (got no response).

Brown does not make me optimistic.

Hey John!
Send him an E mail back and tell him to run her for the senate from Ohio then! She's obviously more qualified than his rah, rah cheering section would likely think he is. Whatever senator Sphincter responded with one could logically expect from a senator as tapered on either end as he is.

I sent an e-mail to our reps and actually received a letter back from one that covered my questions! I have received the same type of form letter that Chadw received from our great gov. of Pa. in other words dont bother me! im trying to figure out where im going to spend my stimulis money.

Mel & Bill

Neither of my current Senators have ever acknowledged that I ever tried to contact them.
It is just a lousy peasant bothering the lord of the realm.
