Emotional Support Animals

Yep. I admit, it has gotten pretty strange...everything from pigs to peacocks. I told someone that my mules are my emotional support animals...but I couldn't find "Emotional Support Animal" sweaters big enough to fit them.:D

The support animal thing is out of control. The only real purpose is to keep snowflakes from melting.

That said, Dude likes to visit Cabelas, Bass Pro and the like. I am ok with it as long as an establishment encourages folks to bring their pets, even provide treats. The use of comfort pets to game the system is right up there with the BS use of handicap placards.

I remember the good old days before "emotional support animals", when you could see teenage girls walking through airports clinging to "emotional support pillows". A strange sight, but at least the pillows didn't bite anyone.

Up in post #19 I get the same invite to bring my Angel into the grocery store by the mgr. He’s a good gun guy and a good dude to talk with and of course he likes my Weim. “Bring her in. She’s allowed.” I think he wants to get some action going on to break up the boredom. She’s a handful for my old bones!
“Clean up in aisle 7…8…6…10. We need some help in the Deli!” He pushed that poor dog thru the store from his belly…back…belly; we got blood in the Produce Dept.

My sleep apnea clinic has two dogs there. The doctor did have the courtesy at my last appointment to ask me if I liked dogs. I told time I did, and he gave me some treats for the dog. Pretty soon the dog was curled up at my feet. No problem as far as I was concerned.

You can turn them away. This is a myth, and if more businesses would do so this nonsense would stop.

We are not a business. We are a state agency and the powers that be do not want of offend the tourists. So not a myth in our case, but an administrative decision. I don't agree with it. I want to keep my position.

When my wife was working at Lowe's , there was a PetSmart right next door so there was always critters coming in the store . Many were regulars so she knew their names . Her favorite was a huge Parrot that would sit on her shoulder .

My wife is a waitress and the restaurant owners take a hard line about “support” animals…. They allow service animals but suspect a lot of people are buying Amazon vests.
I had to attend 8 hour “sensitivity training” for the State when working as a range master at a state owned range. Part of it dealt with support animals. The instructor was moved to tears talking about a certain breed of monkey recognized by the feds as a support monkey. Bottom line was they said do not question legitimacy of any animal a “guest” brings to a park or state recreation facility. I don’t think the instructor liked my wearing a sidearm in class either.
