I'm right handed and exceptionally right eye dominant. That's all good and well, since my right eye is better anyway, for most shooting I do. Shooting something like IDPA or IPSC pistol is no problem offhand as I still use my right eye. When it comes to rifle I have always been pretty much scope or iron sights which again is not problem right handed. I've done some carbine, 3 gun and IDPA side matches and quickly came to conclusion I was going to have an issue with iron or scope for the offhand stuff. Even with practice offhand iron on AR is very difficult for me and scope is just as bad. I can do just ok if I close my right eye but vision is not quite so good and its very slow/awkward. I'm really trying to do more 3 gun and decided if I was going to be half way serious I should do an Eotech being it's supposed to be always two eyes open. Well... Just got an EXPS2-0 and love it so far (range next weekend to actually start shooting that and my new build). Here's my dilemma... right handed both eyes open it rocks. If I go weak hand both eyes open I actually see the reticle at what appears to be a couple inches right of the sight. I guess shooting will tell but wondering if that sight picture is really valid?? I can of course close my right eye and things line up but like scope or irons slow and not quite so sharp. Just wondering what others experiences have been.

It sounds like you are trying to get your right eye behind the sight. During practice sessions try placing something in front of your right eye to force using your left eye. Our officers are required to fire their issued rifles from both shoulders during qualifications, we have AimPoints on all rifles. It takes practice to become comfortable shooting with either eye.

I had a similar problem shooting off hand, seems like my right eye was focusing on the target and my left eye was focusing on the sights. Not a pleasant outcome. Someone suggested tilting the pistol at an angle and I tried it. I was amazed. Apparently the tilting did some kind of trick to my sight picture and I could shoot both eyes open with my off hand and actually hit the target. I'm not sure of the "why" this worked, but I'm a pragmatist so I'll just accept the fact that it works for me.

Out of curiosity, do you shoot pistol isosceles or weaver?

This is a good technique as well, but I find your results are more of the unintended consequences of holding it at a tilt. That is more used as a recoil control method than sight picture correction. But anyways, if you hit the x ring, go for it

Reticle does not need to align with the sight to be accurate on an EoTech. One of the advantages of that sight system.
