So this pistol had been on the healing bench before. It's the very same 1066 that was in this thread...

Anyway she came back for some serious cosmetic adjustements.

And, it's all done now:D ...

There were some bumps along the way. On the return trip from nitriding the slide & frame were packed oriented like this  ...

And with nothing between them but some plastic bag film you can guess what happened. Yep, beat the snot out of that frame and ruined the finish:mad:

So, I had to wipe the front strap clean of that damage, removed the serrations, contoured the area right below the trigger guard root, then applied a stippled finish before shipping back for re-processing in the molten salt bath. It came back like this...

With a few exceptions, a couple pins & plungers, every part on the gun is nitrided.

Uses a ISMI flatwire spring now. Either 31 or 36 coil springs will do. There's a 22# 31 coil in there now...

A little treatment on the sighting plane...

Serrations at 40lpi...

Gotta get this packed up and ready to go home...Ships out next Tuesday.

Erik's goal here was for the "ultimate combat 10mm" and I think that was pretty much achieved.

Still, I can't help but think this is the gun one might find, if Bruce Wayne were a gun guy, hanging on Batman's utility belt ;) :D

Cheers

Beautiful piece! I will be honest about that front strap. I have not found serrations on a front strap to provide a great gripping surface. I expect the stippling will be superior to the serrations and not as abrasive as a checkered surface.
