Escaped murderers: thoughts?

Do you really just ride around like that?

Why?

Unless you're going to the range, to the gunshop/gunsmith, or going hunting, why would you just drive around heavily armed like that? You "drive around" like that all the time? Just because you can, maybe? Just to show off?

And you just leave them laying around in there, unsecured, while you're driving around, let 'em slide all over the place when you make turns or accelerate away from a stoplight? Where those guns gonna go if you have to slam on brakes? How often you have to realign those sights after they've been banging around? Just curious.

What do you do with those guns if you have to get out and go in a store for a while or something? Just leave 'em out in the car/truck? Or do you tote 'em all around inside with you while you're shopping or in the dentist's chair or doctor's office? Bet that's a sight to see.

Why do you carry a gun at all?

I live rural so yeah. One is with me probably 75% of the time. Especially if escaped murderes are running around. I buy quality optics and mounts. Never had to. Google aim point t1 torture. Dropped from s helicopter the t1 never lost zero. As with my other optics. They really don't slide around much. I also don't drive like Mario Andretti. Loaded Rifle racks are normal around here. Sorry freedom like that shocks you.

The point you missed like the others is with escaped killers around. They are in s great place because he majority of the population not only can't protect themselves outside their homes, they can't carry either.

You are darn straight if they were loose in my neck of the woods that one of those rifles would be with me. And I don't have to bow down and kiss the feet of my state government to do so.

Have a great weekend. Be safe upstate nyers!

So....if someone doesn't feel like driving around with a couple of loaded ARs in the passenger seat....why even own a gun? Is that really what I'm reading here?

REALLY??????

And if someone chooses to why is it so shocking and upsetting that you have to comment negatively about it?

REALLY???????

"Free state" ???? More like Somalia. :D

See? Gun control in NY state works. You are way safer than us. Hopefully more comes down the pipe soon so you can be even safer than those of us in Somalia USA :D

Then why is there a picture on syracuse.com of a local woman, near the prison, walking around outside her house carrying a rifle?

You apparently missed the geography lesson and are stuck on the usual NY hate. ;) You have no idea what you're talking about.

I suspect these guys are very close to the escape area, or they are far, far away by now. The amount of planning they put into the escape leads me to believe they are far from upstate NY. Of course I could be completely wrong.

Well, the woman that has now been charged with aiding in their escape was supposed to be their ride when they popped out of the man-hole cover. She wasn't there. They better have had one hell of a "Plan B" or it's just a matter of time before they're caught. Local reports say they've got it narrowed down to a 50-acre parcel of land.

Wasn't the New York law on magazines seven rounds??? Say doesn't a 1911 magazine hold seven rounds? The magazines that came with my Government Model hold seven.

Only fitting that a couple of 230 grain 45 a.c.p. FMJs pass judgement on them. :D

The Safe Act says we can have 10-round mags but can only load seven. That's been overturned by a judge, for now anyway.

Yes as a may issue state which means it is much harder to get a permit, so only those who have connections or have jumped through all the hoops and fees can do this. Singling out the poor and those without connections to fend for themselves disarmed in public. Which is exactly why I made my comment in the first place: Great state to be loose in where the majority of the population is disarmed out on the street

On the contrary. Most of rural NY is and has ALWAYS been armed. I, like G-Mac, have had my concealed carry permit for over 25 years. I was a poor young man with no "special friends or contacts" when I applied for and received my carry permit and I personally know many others. So your criticism does not hold water. All of the disarmed populace roaming the streets unarmed that you so knowledgeably speak of are packed in the metropolis of NYC.

Another "unarmed New Yorker"....

"Jennifer Hilchey-Reyell watches the tree line as she carries a .22 rifle walking from her mother's house to her own house near Dannemora, N.Y., Thursday, June 11, 2015. Hilchey-Reyell has been keeping a gun close at hand since the escape of two prisoners from the maximum-security Clinton Correctional Facility near her home."

50 acres? This could be over tonight.

A chopper and NVGs could find them quickly.

My preference would be a Huey with a 60.

We REPEALED our > thirty round limit... which was virtually never enforced anyway.

There's no license (or registration) of ANY kind to own a non-NFA firearm in Ohio.

We're also SHALL ISSUE. No dope with a grudge... or a soft spot for robbers, rapists, murderers and terrorists, or just simple contempt for the average man or woman can deny an Ohio CHL "just because".

While it does go against the grain here, I'm kind of rooting for the underdogs here. No, I don't want anyone killed. But it would be nice if we got a plot for another run of the Fugitive. Sure the bad guys are assumed guilty, and I don't care. From my safe cabin here in the south, its just something amusing to read about. Statistics are against these guys, even if they somehow manage to beat the early odds and vanish. And think of all the overtime the searchers are racking up. Most will be able to buy a new boat or motorcycle to enjoy this summer.

Yes, the old woman let them down big time. She deserves prison time herself. If not for helping, for letting them down by not giving them a ride. Had she shown up and done her part, they'd be hundreds or thousands of miles away. Then the gravy of overtime pay would be shared across the US.

Yeah....that's what it's all about....overtime pay. Hopefully, your post was tongue-in-cheek. Rooting for the underdogs? That won't be so funny if they kill somebody.
