Jacob Derbin was a police officer in Euclid Ohio, only 23 years old. He was engaged and supposed to get married in July. He was ambushed last Saturday by a felon with a gun. Made the local new daily since Saturday. The path for the funeral procession came 200 yards from our house. We watched the live coverage on TV and when they left the church, we went to the corner they would pass by.

I was amazed by the Police on Motorcycles leading the procession, at least 30-40 in formation. There was about 10-15 police on motorcycles roughly 100 yards ahead of everyone. He had a white pickup truck detailed and I think he died before he picked it up, it was before the limousines. There were 3 extended limo's and a few buses. The line of police vehicles and cars were at least 2-3 miles long.

It was good to see the support from all the police departments attending and the people lining the streets for the family and Jacob.

I went to the corner with my newer 3'x5' American Flag with a blue stripe. May he rest in peace and his family heal from the loss of Jacob. A Very Sad Day, Larry

That's so sad, but also shows Brotherhood in full action. I've never been an officer of the law, but their alliance for each other is second to none. Such a young man…
Euclid, that's not that far from Cleveland, then Erie if I remember right. I didn't even hear about it down here in PGH. Anyhow my thoughts go out to his family and community. TY for the info, though sad as it was.
