A custom shop engraved Colt 1911 with real ivory has been on my to-die-for list. My wife bought me this presentation grade a few years ago as an anniversary gift (we share a bank account and she has no firearms license so basically she just gave me her blessing).
I know its not really a custom as Colt cranked out a batch of these that are probably identical, but its good enough for me.
This particular pistol is supposedly cursed, as I'm the third owner and the previous two both sold it in divorce-related liquidations, which was reported to me by the fellow who sold it to me.
I'm not superstitious but I'll admit there have been a couple dicey moments in my marriage since this Colt arrived. Cross your fingers and toes for me!
I also lucked into a couple other Colts, a first year Super .38 and a nice condition 1905. Both were what I would consider a good deal given current market prices but they may have contributed to the afore-mentioned dicey moments....
