EVER HAD SELLER'S REMORSE?

Every time. Sometimes soon sometimes years later. You would think I would learn.

Way to many times to count. Buyers remorse sort of, a Fox A grade 20ga with 30 inch barrels is the most recent. However long barreled small bore are hard to find.

I seriously regret selling a perfect Springfield Armory M1A, a perfect S&W model 60-9 .357 magnum, a perfect Marlin stainless 1894SS .44 magnum rifle, a perfect S&W model 686-3 (had the best action of any revolver I've ever touched!), and a perfect S&W model 629-3 Classic 5". These firearms are going for more than double what I sold them for years and years ago. I so wish I had kept them! I even contacted the person who I sold my S&W model 60-9 to and try to get it back but so far no response. I contacted the person I sold the Marlin to and they won't budge. Oh well, you live and you learn! When you have a "perfect" firearm (or whatever related to it) think twice before selling it!

I read this thread again this morning, and couldn't help reminiscing about
some holster, other than the 2 in my initial post, that come to mind. If I
could turn back time, I might give a bit more thought to selling these five:

Left to Right:

No name, made in Mexico, floral carved with white lace Shown with my
Colt's Agent.

2nd from left, floral carved Viking. Shown with my 1911 Colt's Gold Cup.

3rd from left, floral carved Heiser 757. Show with my Model 10 4"

4th from left, Shoemaker floral carved paddle. Also with Model 10 4"

5th from left, No name Mexican floral carved with red suede lining,
shown with my Model 10 2". Very intricut lacing.

I really hope whoever bought them are enjoying them.

I rarely sell anything, especially firearms.
But two.
SIG P220, box, mags and holsters.
S&W 669, frame cracked around '98, Smith replaced it with a brand new 6906 with blued hammer and trigger-latest variation model at the time IIRC. Traded it in for too little on a smaller pistol the EX wanted more. She ended up getting rid of the replacement pistol when she should have given it to me since my 669 went for it...

I may have sold the ultimate "remorse" gun....a British No4 Mk1 "T" Sniper, Long Branch Canadian built Rifle, British "Bloomed & Waterproofed" scope, in the numbered wooden crate, complete with metal scope can, slings for the can and rifle, leather scope covers, all papers and documents, including the "lens wiping cloth" a British tan snot rag......all in mint condition. 1944 dated...

Did you make a profit?

About 25 years ago I sold an 80's vintage basketweave Milt Sparks 1AT holster for a 1911 that I bought new from Sparks. That's one I'd like to have back.

Most of us will have some buyer's/seller's remorse. The buyer's version is easily converted into seller's remorse.
So I guess the sell version is worse. Always had a good reason at the time though. ;)

One that stands out for me - sold my M66 3" for $375 to a buddy at work.
It was the mid-90's, I'd had the gun almost 10 years, carried it OD some and on a few special assignments. Qualified with it many times.
Back then, 3" M66's weren't really SOUGHT after - it was just sort of an unusual barrel length.
I was in the process of funding a bad case of M1911-itis and figured - what the heck.

Few years ago that friend sold that M66 for ~$1200.
Oh well.

Well, at one time I owned 4 Sharps rifles…………I now own 1. Not to worry though as a LGS has 7 original Sharps in stock!

To answer the question "did I make a profit", well yes I did, a really substantial one. But that still can't replace the lack of that heavy OD green wooden crate sitting in the corner of my "gun room".

Other than value difference I haven't got much remorse. Unless you are independently wealthy there is little chance you could own as many guns and accessories as a lot of us have. I have never sold a gun because I had to. I do regret that I didn't keep count, just for grins.

Phil,
The only holster I ever sold or traded away went to my pap for a holster that my great uncle made while recovering from a back injury from being blown off a bridge in Italy during the war . Never regretted it but did kinda miss the holster. I expected it to be in his stuff when he passed but it was not . It was a black Colt marked holster for a 4 3/4" Colt SA . I found it in a bargain bin at a local Freidman's Army Surplus store for $7 sometime in the early 80's .
