Ever Try to Make a Holster?

Hi Power

Nice! Looks like a Browning Hi Power you have in that one.

Yes sir. It's an alloy framed hi power I bought recently. I had Novak sights put on and that's about it. Nice pistol. Kind of ran out of money, so I figured I would make the holster.

Never made one however back in the 1970s one of our fellow LEOs on the force made them for us. Many of us carried K or J frame snub nose off duty or in plain clothes. Here is a picture of the one he made for my Model 64. Great design pancake. Rides high for good concealment and the bottom is open so you could carry a longer barrel revolver if needed. Picture shows 2" M64 and 4" M10. Used it for many years and still use it when carrying my M64.

I've made several holsters, knife sheaths and magazine pouches. Most holsters for oddball / obsolete guns that only option was one of the universal ballistic nylon belt bags. I haven't made anything in last 4 yrs but just about to do slip over style for a 21a Bobcat.
My main tools are large sail needle, long nose pliers, utility knife and drill press. My stuff may not be pretty but it's hell for stout.

I've made about a dozen or so and it all started out of necessity. At the time I bought a sig 250 and there were no holsters commercially sold So, I made my own and really enjoyed the results.

Wickett and Craig 7/8Oz

What kind and weight of leather did you use?

Max, I used a Wickett and Craig piece that we think is or 7 or 8 Oz. The retaining strap is off an old Tandy hide we bought at their Phoenix store a few years ago.
