Does anyone make front sights that are over 1/8" thick? And the rear sight blades to match them, so as a good strip of light is had?

I recall a review of a company that made custom sights, can't recall the name. However, the question is how bad do you want them? They weren't cheap.

You didn't specify revolver or semi- auto, you might check with Novak about sights for semis.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish.

You want a good “strip of ight” visible at the rear sight but talk about wanting a wider front sight.

To get more light on each side of the front sight, widen the rear sight with a file.

I had the sudden idea that the OP, like many of us, are struggling with no longer as sharp as they used to be sights. Size might help. I've personally noticed that stainless, or other bright color front sights are a lot easier to see. In fact, I was planning on changing the front sight on a particular revolver, I'm trying to figure out who can hard chrome it for me.

Don’t know if anyone makes a front sight wider than 1/8” but even if they did I would think accuracy would suffer. It would create a less specific point to aim at a target. If you need better visibility a glowing front sight and two glowing rear dots might help. I’d try that before a super wide sight.

I have a hard time seeing a stainless sight, especially on a stainless gun. It washes out. I added red paint to my front sight on a stainless revolver and blacked out the rear channel, makes it so much easier to pickup.

I do like fiber optic sights, but some older guns don't have provisions to install without machining.

A narrow sight is more precise, a wider sight is faster target acquisition.

A narrower front sight is a more practical alternative. That gives you the "more light", while still using the original rear and not sacrificing accuracy. A front sight that is .100 wide works well. Adding fiber optics to one or both is even better.

Ok, to answer the questions. Its for a revolver. Yes, a narrower front sight would give you more light. However with age, the narrower sight does not work. So... Im looking for a front sight thicker than 1/8" AND a wider rear sight. Not worried about losing a fraction in grouping. Custom work is never cheap, and this may well turn out to be custom.

I’m working on a DYI front blade right now. 6.5” barrel. Had it finished at
1/10th but decided I’m going to take it down just a little more. Actually was about perfect until I took outside. I’m wanting a little more daylight too. It’s PIA because .059” shank and blade has to be flipped back and forth to remove equal from each side.

Power Custom used to make revolver front sights that sat in a 5/16" (?) longitudinal slot cut in the barrel with a mill. Held with a screw. I don't think they're still in production but the same system could be used by any machine shop to make the front sight.

You might take a look at Jack Weigand Profile Pistolsmith Gunsmith.
