Hi folks, new to the forum. I just bought a camo 15-22 and was having lots of fun plinking and sighting in a Eotech sight. Round number 97 it jammed. Cleared it and it jammed again. It was catching the case. Looked and found the extractor gone. Was shooting CMP Federal match ammo. I was shooting slow off the bench and didn't hear anything strange like OOB.
So, after searching this forum, I am disappointed to see this has been happening since 2009. No explanation from S&W, just sent it back.
My question to all of you that had this issue, did it reoccur? Or was S&W's fix permanent.
I can't believe S&W would treat this as a "fix as fails" issue and not fix what ever the issue is. 5 years is a long time to have a reoccurring issue.

Hi all - new to the forum too but have seen this worrying issue all over this forum. Have busily put nearly 3000 rounds through my 15-22 since getting it in March this year. I've mainly used Winchester subs (when tactical bunny hunting) and RWS semi-auto ammunition for range time. Question is...... What's the time frame on this sort of thing happening? Is it a 'number of rounds fired' issue or the quality of rounds being used?
Being in the UK I am a bit worried about not having the S&W factory in this country to send it back to!

Great threads on here - keep it up guys!

The original issue was incorrect springs that caused OOB firing, blowing the extractor out. This was fixed by a factory update to the recoil spring. There have been some reports of extractors popping out when the action gets jammed up trying to clear it but those are usually ammo issues or using ammo with too long an OAL in a PC model.
