I was wondering if anyone was experiencing extractor problems with the current crop of 1911 guns? I have two S&W 1911s, a standard one (SKU 108285) and a Doug Koenig version (SKU 108287) and haven't encountered any extraction problems. However, there are some that have had problems with the new 1911 E series. Especially the extractor retaining pin. It seems it walks DOWN after each shot and eventually locks up the slide.

I've only had my hands on a single one of the Enhanced SW1911's. Nothing wrong noted regarding the extractor pin. Owner hasn't had any issues to date (only a few hundred rounds, though).

I'd have to look back through my parts orders, but I thought I recalled the Enhanced models used different extractor pins & springs than the standard models. (I only ordered a few spare pins & springs in case someone ever brought me one for repair.)

I read Hilton Yam describing similar problems on his 10-8 Performance blog. He stated S&W was revising the retention.
