Extreme deep pocket concealment question: which would you pick?

Ive never had a problem concealing my 642 regardless of clothing, its my go to carry gun right now.

In my opinion a pocket-carry gun should never be your only weapon. I find it totally inaccessible when seated.

If I carry in my pocket, I always carry also on my ankle. Ankle carry is quite accessible when seated and is particularly good in the car when belted in. But it is not too good when standing, so the pocket-carry weapon (or hip carry) compliments it nicely.

Mike or Dave ... How would you characterize the recoil from the .32? Similar to a wadcutter in an Airweight/Lite? Seecamp lists the LWS 32 at 10.45oz without the magazine, 11.5oz with it, so the overall unloaded weight is not that much different than the lightest J-frame.

Apologies if this appears to be a thread hijacking. It is not ... the thread has generated some valuable information for discussion and consideration.

I sold my 32 and kept my 380. I figured for the same size pistol why not go for the bigger caliber. It's not like I'm shooting it every day. As one poster said get some practice in at about 7 yards and call it a day. Is the 380 a handful? Yes, but I'd rather have the extra oomph when needed.
I paid about 850 for mine, while waiting almost 2 years. Mine was one of the first guns produced, Larry offered 32 owners first dibs at the new 380.
Can't argue with the fact that you can get 2 Airweights + ammo for the price of 1 Seecamp 380, BUT for deep concealment this gun cannot be beat. ymmv

For what it's worth, I spent an afternoon visiting Rex Applegate once. He had a Seecamp in his rear pocket (and probably more equalizers fairly close to hand as well). I'd consider that a significant endorsement.

I'm content with a 442 in that role.

I just purchased a 442 and was wanting a iwb for carry, any info would be appreciated.

Let me know when your ready to get serious................

BTW, for those of you that might be new and playing along at home, this pocket rocket uses the 357 Magnum round. Enjoy.

Do those barrels fire consecutively or simultaneously?

Random thoughts... Carrying Little Bitty Guns.

Starting in 1965, I had just graduated from the Seventh Grade...

Conditions dictated that I needed a gun...
So I started carrying a Western 22 LR O/U derringer, with a pocket full of shells... It kept the older boys off of me...

So in the years that followed to Today, I have carried the following Little Bitty Guns, "LBG's".

But first, I must say that in 1967, I got my first 1911, and it has been my favorite every since, even today, but when I could not carry it I carried the LBG's.

For many years I carried a High Standard 22 Mag Derringer.
This handgun is actually one of the best LBG's on the Planet.

First it cannot jam, you will always get 2 shots. In a grapple situation, it will always shoot twice. I know of one State Police Agency that issued them to their Troopers as a No2. It is flat, light small, and if you practice pretty accurate. I can shoot a bear can off of your head at 10 yards every time and at 15 yards"most" of the time...

I still have this gun and still carry it quite a bit, as a No3 or a No4...
It rode in the front pocket of a Blue Jean Jacket for several years.

The Baby Browning in 25 ACP. I also carried this gun for several years, in my Blue Jean Jacket pocket. No matter if I was carrying another handgun or not.
It was reliable and very small and handy.

I had one of the Freedom Arms 22 Mini revolvers for a while. It was small and handy, and with practice it was accurate. However it was slow for follow up shots. But you could carry 2 in every pocket you had and not even know it...

If you want/can carry a little bigger gun then there are the various LBC 32's.

I do not have a lot of experience with them, but they are a step above the 22/25 guns.

Getting into Little Guns [LG's]
I do have a lot of experience with the various 380's.
My favorite is the Browning 1910. The one I had was most reliable and most accurate, even at 25 yards.
I found it better than the Walthers, the HSC, the H&K, the SIG, Berretta and the Kahrs.

However I also found that if I carried a 380 in a belt holster, I could just as easily carry a 1911 Light Weight Commander in 45 ACP...

I think that the best Little Gun to carry is a 5 shot S&W J Frame.
It also makes a great No2. The advantages of a LG revolver is that they are a lot more reliable, especially if you are in a grapple situation.

For most Civilians, and even many Off Duty LEO's there is a good chance that if you have so shoot some body they will not only be on conversational distance, they will be either within touching distance or already "touching" you.

For that reason, the only deep pocket concealment guns I would carry Today, are the High Standard 22 Mag Derringer, or a S&W Bodyguard, or a Cenntennial. I would carry them as a No2, or a No3, with a bigger gun as the primary.

OK, for times when I just can't hide my 340PD in thin dress slacks (Mika pocket holster notwithstanding) , and nothing other than pocket carry will work, it's down to two guns for me. And only two, I think I've considered them all.

It's either going to be a Seecamp .32 (much better gun, but I can't afford the .380) or a Ruger LCP .380 (not as nice a gun, but it is a.380).

Would you go with the better gun or the slightly larger caliber? Is the stopping ability difference between a .32 and a .380 worth worrying about?

I know you said it was down to two but I'm going to recommend another. I don't leave home without my Kel Tec P32. I put about 500 flawless rounds through it before I was totally confident in it's reliably. Not only is it reliable, it's a really nice to shoot gun. An inch and half of bicycle inter tube made it even nicer. As for letality, the 32 penetrates deep enough and carries all the energy it needs. Most of us 32 carriers load Fiocchi 73 grain FMJ. The 380 version uses the same grip, frame and slide so they are the same size. The 380 will jump a bit more. I'm confident that I can put two 32s on target while trying to get the 380 back on target after the first. DO NOT look at the Tomcat 32.

I'd go with the Seecamp.

I will not carry anything less than a 442 38+P or a LCR in 357. If I carry only One (very rare) I would use a Belly Band or a Tuck-able or my rear pocket. I still carry Speed Strips with reloads.

I remember those COP pistols. I kind of liked the idea but never gave up and bought one.

Between the Seecamp and the .380,I'd take the Seecamp for myself. I don't think there would be much terminal difference, really. I have a Seecamp, but it's not a .32. One of the first .25's to come to town before the .32 came out.

i recently started carrying an AIRWEIGHT 637 .38 in an uncle mikes pocket holster. I like it a lot and barely notice its there...15 oz.
