I've carried nearly every caliber, and most configurations. I generally stick to a Kahr PM9 in a High Noon "Pocket Grabber" these days when I pocket-carry. I've had around a thousand flawless shots through mine, and unlike the (absolutely beautiful) Rohrbaugh, I can do head shots at 25' (if I really work at it!!). Its the perfect compromise for me, and fun to play with.
I have a few friends with Kel-techs, and every one has malfunctioned seriously within 500 rounds of new. I've seen folks with Kahr trouble too, but I've not had any, and know others with more impressive track records than mine. However, neither of my M&P's has ever failed, after a great deal of use.
For general concealed carry I nearly always have an M&P .40c, and it goes in the pocket now and then too. Its always nice to trade it out for the PM 9 though! So long as I think I'll "live" without it.
Can't go wrong with a revolver if that's your thing. It is true that most of us really don't need the extra capacity available with a quick reload! I'm happy for those that don't, and look forward to living nearer to them one day.
