What is the opinion of the red dot that comes with the optic ready 4" pc shield . Looks far to much like a low quality dot optic found on many other small thin pistols that are not very good .

Anyhow spec are limited to nothing other than a 3.5 moa dot ..

Any info like battery light , self adjustable , shake awake and round before it gave up ? A local dealer has two 40sw versions of the shield #11798 model and I am still a 40sw guy but really would hate having to paying for low end poor quality red dot red too .Any opinions .

It is a Shield (English sight manufacturer) J-Point, a good, inexpensive optic. It has been in service under various brand names for longer than most red dots.

However, it is feature poor, not very robust, relatively low end option for a carry pistol, and especially a .40. Shield makes two higher end narrow optics with the same footprint, front-to-back. They are worth the extra $$ which will get you more features and more robust construction. The price will be higher than the J-Point and lower than an RMR or Delta Point, neither of which is as narrow as the Shields.

That's my opinion. I have had a Shield RMS version 1 on a Shield 9mm for four years. I just upgraded to the RMS2. I am pleased with both. I have three Trij RMR's on full sized guns. I believe the RDS systems, co-witnessed with iron sights, are the best sighting setups available today.

I figured it was a bottom end optic too but man info on it is so lacking . I'm not going to buy a shield rms2 because they still produce this kind of junk used by others as there branded models !! Not over paying for a decent handgun because of a third class optic . Thanks I guess . I don't need optics on a carry gun yet but it would be nice to be optic ready like a core not with junk . Oh well Nothing special being passed over .
