Factory refinish cost

Does anyone have a ballpark idea what S&W charges for refinishing? Specifically a flat latch airweight Bodyguard, blued and anodized, not nickel.

I believe Smith has prices on its website.

Be aware that Smith cannot duplicate the original finish on your gun. If you want a finish like the original finish on your gun you’ll need to deal with a refinish shop such as Fords.

They won't refinish aluminum frame guns. Prices were $225 blue and $275 high polish blue. They don't do nickel anymore

Juice not wrth the squeeze

Strictly for expectations management, I would tell anyone my experience with their process left me unimpressed. I sent in an ex-PD Model 15 with a typical carried much shot little finish. No pitting or significant damage beyond finish wear exactly where you would expect it. Shipped to them mid-May 2018, returned to me mid August. Quality of work was decidedly ho-hum, and certainly nowhere near what the gun would have looked like new. Bottom line is my assumption that S&W's factory facilities would produce a better than average result proved false. Any competent gunsmith could have done just as well for probably less money. The juice was definitely not worth the squeeze.

Thanks! I think I'll just call it a shooter. the increase in value wouldn't be half the cost anyway. I like shooting these so it's no loss.

Are you sure about them not doing nickel anymore? The S&W Web site still lists "High Bright Polish, Nickel" as a service for $275. I have a nickel 29-2 that, due to poor storage in original box by the previous owner, has the nickel peeling off of the cylinder. I was hoping to send the cylinder in for re-nickel.

I sent in a stainless M66 recently, but it's still not been there long enough for them to have emailed me an estimate. I put a note with the gun requesting satin-brushed as first preference, with matte bead-blast as a 2nd. We'll see....
