Has anyone ordered a factory threaded barrel for their M&P 9mm from S&W? I ask because I just received a S&W threaded barrel in 9mm and Gemtech thread protector from S&W. I ordered both in 1/2 x 28 RH and they confirmed the part numbers. The problem the first two times was the thread protector would not thread onto the barrel. I am at a loss with S&W. I just received the exchange for the third time and the thread protector fits my Remington 700 LTR rifle barrel in 308! How can they ship this out again, three times (both barrel and thread protector together) and be so far off. I am just going to return the thread protector and request a refund. Of course that is after I take the barrel to a friends to make sure it is the right thread!

Part #39791, call S&W (800) 331 0852. But they tell me they may be out of stock with no idea of when they will be back in stock.

Didn't know you could order factory threaded barrels from S&W. I thought they discontinued them. I picked mine up from gunbroker.

I'd look at one of these if what they are providing aren't working.

The old model from the Spec Ops handguns are discontinued. This is a new model threaded 1/2"x28tpi. I was not able to find a local thread protector so I assumed that if you order a barrel with a thread protector at the same time, they would fit! Just an fyi, the barrel is going back as well. The feed ramp on this one is off center.

Yeah I didn't realize S&W sold them at all. Does yours look like mine here (top)

I bought an M&P pistol with a threaded barrel. It was marked on the box 1/2-28. The factory thread protector in the box did not fit as well as other flash hiders, thread protectors or silencers I tried. So I sent it back as it is DEFECTIVE. 3 months and S&W cannot tell me when they will make another run of barrels! What kind of customer service is this? Needless to say, I have started steering people away from S&W as they are not the same company they once were. I teach CCW classes and people always ask me what they should buy. About 75-80% of those that ask buy what I recommend. I will not be recommending them any more. That is hard to say coming from a lifelong S&W shooter.

If I remember correctly S&W offered threaded barrels in two different thread pitches. Could it be possible that you got one of the other ones by mistake?

Nope, I ordered a 9mm with standard 1/2x28RH threading (part #39791), all three times. And according to four S&W employees "we no longer offer the 9mm M13.5x1LH (#39256), there are none in house, and there is no way you could have gotten one". Not to mention that this time the thread protector fits a rifle barrel (almost a 1/4" larger than the threads on the barrel they shipped it with).

Well this all went back to S&W not only because the threads were off and the thread protector sold with the barrel was big enough to fit my rifle barrel, the feed ramp of the barrel is off center. This barrel has a sharp edge on the left of the ramp leading to the narrow flat section and on the right is rounded off to the outer edge of metal. I am by no means a gunsmith but I have been shooting, refurbishing, and maintaining my weapons for 35 years and to me this looks like a reject barrel from the production line (just my opinion).

I had the same problems with mine. S&W has my barrel. They have had it since September. No idea when they will make them again. I no longer recommend them in my CCW classes as their customer service sucks.
