I have an m&p 40 that I recently has machined removing a good amount of weight to the slide and cut out for an rmr. I installed an apex trigger and an ISMI 20# recoil spring. My issue is when cycling a new round into the chamber the bullet gets caught on the firing pin before it can reset causing the round to jam under the firing pun and against the top of the breach. I'm thinking I need a heavier spring and ordered a wolf 24#spring and guide rod but while I wait I wanted to see if I'm going down the wrong path. Any thoughts?

The gun may be recoiling so fast that the firing pin does not have time to retract after firing. (to heavy recoil spring.) Or the firing pin is hanging up in the pin channel of the slide.

Full size M&P? 20lb spring might be too heavy.

...the bullet gets caught on the firing pin...
This shouldn't be possible in a functioning gun.

Take the striker assembly out and clean both it and the channel it rests in. Do not put any lube of any kind on that assembly or in the channel.

If you have a lot of rounds through the gun, consider replacing the striker assembly or at least the striker return spring.

You guys are right, for some reason I had my logic reversed when I ordered the spring. I was thinking it would slow the recoil but didn't figure in that it would make the return faster. I ordered new springs and will let you know. Of the spring doesn't work I'll give the striker assembly a shot. I appreciate everyone's input.
