The club I belong to in Maryland during this time of year has a .22 rimfire only bullseye match on Wednesday nights. My cousin Dave belongs to the club and shoots this match fairly often, and I shoot it quite a bit. Another cousin, one of Dave's sisters, wants to join the club and I offered to sponsor her for membership. The club recommends that prospective new members come and observe a match.
Dave's sister met me at the range and I introduced her around. Dave came a little later. Then the Range Officer asked Dave's sister if she would like to shoot in the match. I figured if it was OK with the Range Officer it was OK with me. So Dave showed his sister how to use his .22 pistol and I loaned Dave one of my backup pistols that I brought. So the match commenced, and Dave's sister had a great time.
The attendance was a little diminished at the match this week. I eventually realized that half of the firing line was taken up by my cousins and me. I'm now the family elder for the area, and it was great to see the cousins I encouraged to shoot handguns beside me on the firing line.
PS: I let Dave use one of my Model 41s. Now he wants one
