We have the first All Family Trip planned for 2021. Father's Day weekend. 3 of 4 of the kids have made camp site or hotel reservations. I sure hope #4 and family can at least stop by for one day. That way I can have all 8 grand kids together! That would be a first. Last summer we got 6 grand kids together and even though they are spread across 14 years, they enjoyed the togetherness.

I find it interesting, the wife and I took the kids on all kinds of camping since each one was born. #2 was only 7 weeks old on his first tent camp out at Labor Day. #1 was 7.5 weeks old for his first Cabin Camp out at Thanksgiving.

All of my kids as adults just can't get enough, it is 2 of the spouses that have "Issues" with the outdoors. But all the older grandkids get plenty of time in the woods.

I think it is about time to have a fire building class with the 5 oldest (and feed that inner pyromaniac!)

the old comment "My wife thinks the Hilton is camping" still holds true in many houses. That said, anything that will get you outside in todays environment is a winner

I was told that when my middle grandson was with his Cub Scout troop a few years ago and they were having a hard time starting a campfire, he said "My grandpa just pours some "boy scout juice" on the fire and it goes 'whoose!' and starts burning."

I've been trying to tell him you don't tell your mother or other adults everything your grandpa teaches you!

Sounds fun for cousins to get together! My maternal grandparents lived in the country. My older cousin that I idolized used to seem to be out there when I had my turn at spending time out there; it was great times! Cousin Greg had 2 go-karts and a mini-bike; pretty rare back in the 60's. (Mom always said he was spoiled...whatever!) He's been gone a long time now, but I will always remember him giving me rides on the go-karts. We always had the family reunions out at my mom's parents' property. Dad always (complained) that it was dry! German side of my family was Dad!

My wife, her mom and my mom were all Camp Fire Girls (all the way up to Horizon). They would sit around a bonfire and tell "Girl Scout" jokes, because Girl Scouts used news paper to light their fires! Boy Scout Juice is an absolute riot! BTW, Our daughter got a collage job as Nature Director of a camp in the Catskills, her only qualification: She can start a fire with one match, and none of the other applicants could light a fire with a flame thrower

Every June my father would take a week of vacation a we would head to Sandusky Bay. There was a cheap camp ground just past the bay bridge where we would make camp. My father and his brother would stretch a tarp over a rope to great a big tent. We would fish all week for the fall supply of fish for Friday dinners.
Learned how to filet fish when I was twelve. We had a Coleman two burner stove that used white gas. Dad rented a flat bottom boat and we would head into the bay to catch some of the biggest and best yellow perch you would ever eat. Along the shore we would we would fish for bass and crappy. Some good times.

We just stopped camping, but it was fun in our 40' Motorhome..bath and a half, 4 TV's and a residential refrigerator. it kept the ice cream frozen and the beer cold....Life is good..

Just went Friday night into Saturday with my dad. On the basic side of things but I like being out in the woods. Heard lots of spring peepers and some owls.

like to go camping. wanted to go this weekend, weather put a stop to that thought. called a friend that lives in Conneaut Lake, asked her if the ice was off Pymatumning Lake a couple of weeks ago, musky usually hit decent when the ice 1st. melts. i think the only campground open then was on the Ohio side.
