I just received an email from my county saying my CHP renewal application had been approved and my new permit will be mailed on Dec. 22. I applied for the renewal ( has to be done electronically now) on Dec. 6th. That's pretty good service from our county clerks of court. York County, VA is on the ball! :D

I was impressed with VA's process after applying for a non resident permit.

It took only about two weeks. FWIW, I'm a MD resident.

My wife and I recently moved from Vegas to Akron. My interactions with BMV and the county Sheriff have been wonderful. New licenses and plates took maybe 15 minutes each. The CCW 20 minutes. So much better than waiting 118 days in Clark County.

Good on Ohio, Virginia and Texas! My NM renewal, earlier this fall, took 10 weeks to the day.
Our program is run by the Dept. of Public Safety (state police, not by counties).

Takes about 4 weeks here in WA. I've had a permit for 30 years.

Slow walking permits here just because they can. Trick is to not let them come even close to the expiration date or you might be in for some trouble. It isn't like a vehicle license renewal. Not even close.

I honestly believe it's the state, not the county, that holds those up. Everything here goes through the state dept. of licensing. Funny how those things work, or don't.

It's really a good thing that WA is a shall issue state. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to get a permit.

Yes, my Washington CCP needs to be renewed, and for the first time, I received a notice of expiration from the Dept of Licensing. They used to leave it up to us to keep track. $32 for 5 years, and no class or range requirements. A little over $6 per year would be a bargain these days, if it weren't for the fact that the second amendment already recognizes our right to keep and bare arms!

To me it's worth the time and money to renew my Ohio CCW Permit. My FFL is doesn't need to "call in" when I get firearms from him. If I get pulled over by Police, and have a permit, they know I had some kind of training and didn't just stick a gun in my pocket. Maybe this matters, maybe not but, I'm Keeping Mine.
