Picked my 45 shield up today. Am almost 70 years old. 5"6, 210#.
What holster should I buy? IWB or OWB.
Always carried in my briefcase but retired now.
PS. Don't even like carrying my wallet.
TIA

IWB will hide better but you need to 'budget' extra pants width for comfort with the gun and holster against your waist. OWB will probably be more practical for you, but you then need to have a covering garment like an untucked shirt, sweater or jacket.

There are discreet belt carry cases but none big enough for a Shield 45. Good luck in your decision and stay safe!

I carry my Shield 45 in a Crossbreed Mini-Tuck IWB at 9 o' clock (left-hander here). It's so comfortable as to be almost unnoticeable.

I am 5'10" 200 pounds and can conceal it along with an IWB dual-mag carrier at 2 'o clock holding two 7-round mags under normal clothes with a high degree of comfort.

If you've got love handles go outside waistband. No new pants needed, just a shirttail or jacket.

Buy a Blackpoint Tactical, standard.

The gun rides lower on the belt and your love handles will not push the butt out. Conceals great. You don't need the leather wings, that's for skinny guys that need it to bend around their waist better.

You can get them in the store or order them. I love mine.

Good luck.

May I suggest you take a look at the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB holster for your Shield. They also make an OWB holster, which I have not worn. But you and I are the same year model, and I've been carrying one of these holsters with Shields for about six months now and find it to be the very best choice I've ever used for IWB carry. I have tried and worn MANY holsters over the past 50 years. This one is the most comfortable I have worn, and it does the job intended as well as any I have ever used. I also like OWB holsters, but for carrying concealed, IWB is best.

In my experience, a larger size of pants is not needed with this holster (unless the pants you are wearing are extremely tight!). You do need a good double thickness gun belt for your pants. AG also sells a good looking belt, but I have no experience with it. This holster is very adjustable for height and cant of carry. It is very secure on your belt and waist, and the neoprene backing portion is incredibly comfortable, especially if things are hot and sweaty. It spreads the weight over a wide area on your waist. It does take up some real estate on your waist line, but trust me, this is a positive attribute. It will take some getting used to, as does about any holster you will wear, but it requires little break-in of the holster, just a bit of break-in for your your body! Bonus is that you can purchase finished kydex shells for many different types of guns that will fit the neoprene backing portion. It is also made for some revolvers! AG is and has been a great company to do business with. You can call or email them and talk to them and they will happily answer your questions and give you their best advice. I highly recommend Alien Gear and their products!

BTW, I'm a bit taller than you, but my waistline is likely as big around or moreso than yours! And I also have some body real estate that protrudes over the waistband of my britches. The AG holster still works very well for me!

I am fluffy too and have a basic kydex iwb holster off ebay I carry my shield 9mm in. Iwb makes concealment easier and the basic kydex with a full sweat sheild keeps sweat off my gun and keeps the gun from digging into my skin. My shield also has a viridian ctl light on it too.

Hubby and I use these also, and recommend them.
He took advantage of their shell trade-in policy when he traded a gun. It was fast and easy.

+1 on the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB. Just received mine and it makes it feel like I am not actually carrying. I also got the OWB but it hangs out just as much as most other OWB holsters I have tried.

I am a little on the large size myself. I always carry IWB. I like RDR holsters. I think they make them when ordered so they can take awhile to get. I also like Foxx holsters, have one for a Glock 19. I also carry my MP 9 compact in my front pocket with a sticky holster. Good luck with your search.

I'm 6'3", 267 lbs, and I carry OWB, using a Galco FLETCH, high-ride, pancake holster, with thumb break retention. Easy to conceal under an open shirt, or light jacket / hoodie. Very comfortable, and stable.

If you don't like the retention, consider the Galco Concealable.

I pocket carry mine. I know, it's too big, right?

I love Sticky Holsters, great concealment, ZERO belt sag and can be used with any pants including gym or sweat type pants, bathing suit, even underwear

I have a DeSantis Intruder holster that I got for my Shield 9mm. The Shield 45 fits it just fine. I carry IWB at 3:00 and don't even notice it after about 10 minutes. I also have a kydex OWB holster for the 9mm that fits the 45 just fine also.
