I propose a thread sharing our father's guns in early celebration of Father's Day, June 21st.

Here is my Dad's Model 19-2, which he purchased second hand from another deputy in 1969 for the sum of $150.00. My Dad carried this revolver as his duty weapon until the department switched to Model 66's in about 1978. This Model 19-2 letters to a delivery date on 4-29-68, to Micro Sight Company, Belmont, California.

Here is Dad toting the Model 19-2 at a farm labor dispute in 1970. Dad is on the far left with the shades...

Thanks for sharing. I remember the farm labor disputes in 1970. I had just graduated from college, waiting to go in the Army, and worked that summer in the lettuce fields in the Salinas Valley as scab labor.

Dad's issued Model 66 which he retired with in 1975:

A Chief's Special, shipped June, 1953, that he often carried as a back up or off duty:

A Triple Lock .44Spl, shipped in November, 1909, renickled and with the barrel shortened, that he acquired sometime along the way:

I have a Chief's Special that looks exactly like that one. Its even in the same condition. I bought it used at a shop in Norfolk, Va. a couple of years ago. It was a LEO's BUG carried in an ankle holster for many years I was told. I was a LEO myself and like old "cop guns" that show some history. You are fortunate to have those revolvers from your father.

Here's my Dad's Mauser HSc. He bought it in 1975 for $90.00.
He's 82 now and can't rack it anymore. He gave me the pistol, all the original papers, box and factory test drive target.
I haven't really looked too hard, but I've not seen another one like it.

I had to take this 1917 off dad when he went to assisted liveing with alzheimers at 88 years old. He wasnt happy with me but the supervision wouldnt let him keep it under his mattress!

My late Fathers S&W M66-2. This was his second issue duty gun. He was issued a M15 before that which my Mother has and loves to shoot. In the early 1990's my Fathers Department allowed Deputies to carry personal side arms. Dad went to a S&W 4566 which he carried until 2001 when the department went to Sig P226 9mm.

This is a gun that I put together from a kit in the early '80's. My Dad liked it so much that I gave it to him for Christmas. For months after that every picture taken of him he was holding this gun. When he passed away my Mom returned it to me. Every time I take it from the safe memories of Dad come flooding back.

RonJ, I had bought two of them in the early 60s for I think $29.99 apiece! It was beautifull matched pair. I latter traded them to a collector friend for a ruger hawkeye, brand new in the box! Think I sold the hawkeye after I had used it, for $1,200s many years ago to help finance a divorice!
