For the range that is - not defensive loads. I'd be particularly interested in handload recipies that are pleasant enough for regular use. Not +P, just mild specials.

Thanks in advance-

Berry's 125gr LFP with Bullseye. You can load down for light recoil, or work up to around 4.5gr for good practice managing the gun.

I've also been experimenting with Clays recently under the same bullet. It's cleaner.

My recipe is virtually the same..........a plated 125-grain slug over four grains of WST. Clean, mild mannered, but not far behind my off-duty loads.

38 spl
2.6 Bullseye with a 148 HBWC seated flush
3.5 Bullseye with a 158 SWC

357 mag
13.5 2400 with a 158 JHP seated at 1.575

EDIT: just remembered the 642 is limited to .38 spl. Well here is some .357 data for those that can use it.

I have been using 2.7 gr of Bullseye topped with a 125 gr LRN wheel weight bullet out of a Lee tumble lube mold. It is a 9mm bullet but works fine. Soft and easy to shoot but accurate and easy on the budget.

For a mild target load you can't beat wadcutters. A 148gr dewc with 3.1 grains of Winchester 231 is fun to shoot and leaves a nice size hole in the target. I could shoot them all day out of a 642.

158gr. LSWC with 3.0 grains of Bullseye. Light recoil in a #442 and it has the same POA/POI as my carry load of Remington UMC 125gr. JHPs. A big plus is the absence of leading in the barrel. My 5'2" 100# daughter shoots 100 rounds through her #442 every time we hit the range together.

Best Regards,
