Favorite Frame Size? Why?

Tough question, but when it's all said & done, my Model 19 K frame was, is and always will be #1. 686 L frame's made great inroads, Model 36 J frame gets carried most, and the Model 29 N frame is the Incredible Hulk of the lot, but there can only be one #1.

I prefer 'big-bore' N-frames: 625, 610, etc. But, I have to give 'honorable mention' to the J-frames.

I would have to base my favorite revolver on my favorite cartridge to shoot and it would be the 45ACP. I really like to use moon clips and enjoy the nostalgia of feeding them into the gun. Also love to see those big holes down range as well as the accuracy cant really be beat in the N frames that chamber them. Good thread, Theo

I too have settled on the J frame as my favorite platform and I have a handful of representatives which are all fun to shoot. My favorite carry gun is a 642 and my favorite range plinker so far is a 36-1 3".

I also own L and N frame S&W, which I like also. My N frames are all .41 magnum and I've relegated them to hunting. My L frame makes for a very nice range/do-everything-else gun!

The J frame just seems to settle in my hand well with the proper grips and is much more comfortable to carry.

I've got one each J, L and N frame. It sounds like I need to get me a K frame. Maybe a 66...

For me it's a L frame, 4". While a tough call as I shoot the K and N frames in competition, the 686+ is my house gun and shoots like a house on fire. I also have 3 N frames, a 3"M24, 625 JM, 627 Pro; 1 L frame, 686 4"; 2 K frames, M15, M10- both 4", and a M63 4".
Yes I like my smith wheel guns!

N frames here. I have an X frame, 5 Ns, an L, 3 Ks 1 J and 2 Is

Part of it is I love big bores, just getting used to the L frame 44 mag so reserve judgement. the Ks are alright and the J is to small, but a good conceal gun and the Is are 32s for fun plinking.
Part of it is I am big with big hands. I have to wear 2X leather gloves. N frame fit me. They are big to conceal, but, 4" N frames are not a problem for regular holster wear. The 6" guns are kind of a pain to get in the truck and drive with, but OK for walk around. The X frame 500 is a beast with a scope and will never be a pleasant carry gun, just a hand cannon

I have J,K,L,N and like them all for different reasons. But the first reason they are all Smith&Wesson. :)

My favorite frame size is the k frame and the reason its my favorite is because.

Its not to big its not to small its just right.

For EDC/CCW, the I- and J-frame guns shine. If I'm just going out to the range, my K-22 and K-frame custom 327 FM get the nod, and if I want high performance, my ND 686 for 357 and my 29-2 in 44 Mag come out. My favorite frame size? The one that matches the caliber and assignment in question. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I do love my N frames. I just need to find a nice set of wood grips for my new 29-2 4inch. It came with a cheap pair of Pachmayr's on it.
