This is mine. It's a 1902 1st change in .32-20. It reminds of the Robert Johnson song. This is the coolest gun I own.

billwill, the electrical tape was soon replaced with some white surgical tape. It was a good bit more tacky to the touch, and gave the gun so much character after six months or so of use. Made it look like a wounded veteran that was coming back on line to fight alongside his comrades.
I have actually replaced the tape with some kind of rubber grips I got on another gun I took in trade. They aren't bulky at all, and don't affect the conceal-ability at all.
I recently popped the side plate and gave the internals a good cleaning. I put a few drops of lube on likely places, had prayer over the whole wretched mess, and put it back together. Should be good to go for another six months in the Georgia heat and humidity, and a fat boys sweat, when I'll pull it down again and flush out the impurities. That's just a necessary thing when you carry a gun on your person every day down here, especially in a pocket or a holster right against your body.

Close second even though I've never fired it. Browning BDM, fired half a dozen times when new in 1993 and stored ever since.

May years ago, I was in a favorite gun shop about 80 miles from home. The owner knew what I liked, and he said, "Check out this strange Smith," and handed me this chopped barrel 25-2." It had been modified "back in the day" by a long-deceased Savannah gunsmith he told me.
"I'll take it," I quickly replied. I was always a sucker for 3" barrels and this one was a tackdriving .45ACP.
Later one afternoon, I was passing through that town and stopped by. I discovered some new toy at his store and traded it back to him, and drove home with the new prize. A couple of days later I couldn't get the 25-2 off my mind, so I gave him a call . . .
"Do you still have the chopped S&W," I asked. He did and I agreed to drive over the following weekend and trade back. Sure, it cost me $100 bucks for his trouble but I was SO GLAD to get this baby back to its permanent home! On my death it will go to one of my sons, for I'm not going to make that mistake twice!
Through the years it continues to bring me more joy shooting it than anything else, and tonight it will protect our house quite nearby where I sleep . . . and travels with me when I'm gone . . . and still wins matches with me when I shoot.
PLUS . . . IT IS ONE GREAT LOOKING 3 1/4" WHEELGUN, IMHO!!!
Here it is with a magnificent set of Patrick Grashorn's beautiful Elk Stag grips. She cleans up GOOD!!!

I like the Mauser..........And the Luger......... And the Mountain Gun..........And the Model 39..........but the one I'd grab if I needed a pistol would be this Colt Series 70, with safety, beavertail grip safety and stippled forend by Clark, tritium sights, and iron reliability. It stays in the holster attached to my bed; it feels really good to roll over at night and feel that grip in my hand.

Tough choice - need to separate 'em centerfire & rimfire.

Just like pets. Don't have a favorite. I like them all for different reasons.
Girsan 1911 in .45 ACP. Good shooter once I had the feed ramp polished. Also cost me only $365. Dawson FO front sights and Raasco grips.
SA Range Officer in 9mm. A lot cheaper to shoot than a .45. Had trouble with it at first. FTE. Sent it Back to SA and they reamed the barrel, tuned the extractor and polished the feed ramp. Turn around time was only 10 days. Shoots great now. Dawson FO front sights and Raasco grips.
M&P CORE in 9mm. This gun has been and remains flawless. Never had any issues. Maybe in this next month or so will get a red dot for it.
All these guns are fun to shoot.

That's 10 shots at 7 yards with 135 Gold Dot +P.
Here it is stuck in my El Paso Crosshair; when it's on my belt I hardly know it's there. Very comfortable and lightweight. I toss a speed strip in my strong side pocket. Rubber grips usually catch on concealment garments, but not these; Hogue designed it with a polymer butt cap--it does the trick. Also covers the entire backstrap with rubber. I like them.
I find the non-descript shape of a revolver less prone to printing. My rig has no straps to undo, no thumbsnaps, no safeties to mess with. Just draw, aim, and shoot. Simple. I find it to be the perfect blend of compactness, shootability, power, and reliability. I also find I do just fine with DAO.

Cool piece, deanodog, first one of those I've seen.
I was raised on 1911s and they are my favorite pistols. I have several custom Colts but this Clark Meltdown 1991A1 Compact is my favorite. The polish and blue was done by my friend's at Dietrich Guunsmithy. It shoots as good as it looks and I love the fact that you won't find another one like it anywhere.
I also have a soft spot for custom S&W revolvers and when I saw this I had to have it. The CROWBAR is the coolest revolver I've ever owned. It's a M28 that was customized by Marc Krebs back around 1987. It has been converted to .45acp and the attention to detail is amazing, there's almost nothing on this gun that hasn't been altered in some fashion. Krebs Customs is best known for their AK47s and before that building 1911s. I spoke to Marc after I bought this gun and it was a one off custom built for a Illinois cop and maybe the only revolver Marc ever built.

My wife examined one at a show earlier this year and asked me all about it. I think she'd dig one. She loves her 686-4, so I'm sure she could do well with a toy like this.
