I like all my guns, trade off the ones I dont care for due to inaccuracy, feed issues. whatever

But, they tend to fall into two categories:
First one is, once they have proven themselves, and I have them dialed in, I rarely shoot them. Some guns in this category are AR10 &AR15, most my bolt action rifles excluding my cz455. All my Glocks. Shotguns. These guns rarely see daylight.

2nd category is what I grab to go to the range.
This would be any of my 686's or 629's, 617 but not that often, cz455, marlin 1894, and the #1 gun right now is Colt series 70 1911. Some reason that Colt gets all my love at the range.

Any of you all got a favorite that always goes to range with you?

I always take one or more of my kids to the range with me, so what goes depends on what they want to shoot.

For me, I like the 460V so that gets a disproportionate amount of range time- do the detriment of my wallet.

I always take my main carry gun. 1911 Compact .45 because I might depend on it one day. Besides that, I enjoy the heck out of it.

If I'm feeling like making some noise it's a .44 or .45 Ruger Blackhawk. I probably need to get the Security Six out next trip.

Almost always I have my trusty K-22 along for some cheaper fun.

After that it's what I feel like shooting and cleaning that day.

This Colt Officers Model .32 revolver. It shoots much better than I can and the guy who owns the place where we shoot likes it so I always bring it. Some dedicated target shooter spent time and money on it a long time ago.

Nowadays my range time is always alone time. So, I don't carry a backpack full of guns. However, regardless of what else I take, I always bring my beloved little Model 18. That thing is my most enjoyed, most shot handgun bar none. I can happily go shoot it hundreds of times w/o worry that I am wasting family money. Given that my left had is still not recovered (broke in March), I can shoot my Model 18 w/o my left hand being in such pain. I can shoot it very well either SA or DA. And, at least to my eyes and in my way of thinking, there is simply a great pride of ownership and pleasure that I derive from shooting/using this marvel of S&W engineering/manufacture. Sincerely. bruce.

My choice for the favorite range gun has changed over time.

As I've aged, my priorities have shifted from sport shooting to mostly self-defense drills and handgun choice has changed along with that shift in training emphasis. I moved from full size to compact, double stack to a single stack, and TDA to DAO.

Currently, for about the last year, my favorite range gun is a Smith & Wesson model 4053 even though I use my 3953 for EDC more often.

The 9mm gets carry preference because my clip-on Buckheimer-Clark IWB open top holster for the 3953 is more comfortable than my options for the S&W 4053.

Lately (it changes) it's been my SIG railed stainless 1911. The darn thing is a fantastic shooter. For shootability it's easily the equal of my Dan Wesson. I got it gently used for <$1K OTD.

#1 All time, every time 15-3.

#2 Same, Top or bottom MKII, my son got the middle one some time back.

#3 CZ 75B with Kadet. I could go to the range with just this and be satisfied. I have many 9mm mags only 2 of the .22's as they are almost $50 each.

#4 I don't know why I love this beater 34-1. It shoots a foot high at 10 yds, has a j-frame trigger and way small for my hands. But it's reliable and no chambering/ejection issues like the 17 and 18.

Most anytime I go to shoot handguns, one of my Model 18s almost always finds its way into the range bag. I shoot this gun more than any other I own. I mostly shoot it double action as practice for my other S&W revolvers. Cheap to shoot and a whole lotta fun! :D

no matter what else I take in the handgun bag, my 1952 5" M&P goes and gets 24 rds put thru it. medium loaded 158 gr lswc. a real accurate piece and just a pleasure to shoot. rifles are always accompanied by one of my .22, usually a Marlin, sometimes a ruger American. lee

My EDC, a CZ PCR, almost always gets taken from it's holster at the range and gets at least a box of ammo put through it.

Old reliable Model 28-2 always goes, along with my EDC Model 36, and whatever else I fancy shooting that particular day.

A model 94 trapper in .357 has really become a fun gun at the range.Usually a M1 or M1a a 1911 and a couple of S&W revolvers. My favorite if I had one would be my 3 inch model 66.I am blessed to have my own range so when I go its for the whole day but time goes pretty fast.
